Joan Madden was born on 21 June 1912.2 She was the daughter of Admiral Sir Charles Edward Madden, 1st Bt. and Constance Winifred Cayzer.1,3 She married Lt.-Col. Henry Morison Vere Nicoll, son of Lt.-Col. Charles Vere Nicoll and Mary Helen Venning, on 30 December 1939.4 She died on 14 January 2008 at age 95.5
From 30 December 1939, her married name became Vere Nicoll.4 She lived in 2003 at 1 Welland Meadows, Tixover Grange, Stamford, Lincolnshire, England.2
