John Power, 3rd Baron le Power and Coroghmore1

     John Power, 3rd Baron le Power and Coroghmore was born circa 1529.2 He was the son of Richard Power, 1st Baron le Power and Coroghmore and Lady Katherine Butler.3,4 He married, firstly, Lady Eleanor FitzGerald, daughter of James FitzJohn FitzGerald, 13th Earl of Desmond.4 He married, secondly, Ellen MacCartie, daughter of Teig Mac-Cormac MacCartie, after 1557/58.1 He died on 8 November 1592.5
     He was also known as John Poer.5 He was also known as John 'Mor'.5 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron le Power and Coroghmore, co. Waterford [I., 1535] on 16 October 1545.4 On 28 February 1564/65 he was ordered (with others) by Queen Elizabeth I to preserve the peace of Munster.5 On 11 June 1567 he was ordered to be sent as prisoner with other Irish lords to London.5 On 11 February 1587/88 he petitioned Queen Elizabeth I for some recognition of his services against the rebels.5

     Edmond More Barry is the son of Gerrot Barry.1 He married unknown wife (?)2
     He lived at Rathgobbane, County Cork, IrelandG.1 On 18 March 1560/61 he renounced his rights to the feudal barony of Olethan.2

     Laurence Barry is the son of Sir William Fitz David Barry and Margaret de Courcy.1,2 He married Orlagh O'Brian, daughter of O'Brian of Thomond.2
     He lived at Ibawne, IrelandG.3 He gained the title of Baron of Ibawne [feudal baron].4 Laurence Barry also went by the nick-name of Laurence Barry roe (or in English, the Red Barry.)1

     James Barry is the son of Richard Barry and unknown O'Driscol.1,2 He married, firstly, Ellain MacCartie, daughter of Cormac MacTeig MacCartie, although this marriage was pronounced void.2 He married, secondly, Illin Downe, daughter of Fynin MacDermot Downe.2
     He lived at Ibawne, IrelandG.2 He gained the title of Baron of Ibawne [feudal baron].3 James Barry also went by the nick-name of James Barry roe.1

     Richard Barry was born illegitimately before 1542.1 He was the son of James Barry and Ellain MacCartie.1,2 He married, firstly, Isabel Fitzgerald, daughter of Sir James Fitzgerald.2 He married, secondly, Moyra MacMahon, daughter of unknown MacMahon.2
     He lived at the Rath, IrelandG.1

James Fitz Richard Barry, 4th Viscount Barry1

     James Fitz Richard Barry, 4th Viscount Barry was the son of Richard Barry and Isabel Fitzgerald.1,2 He married Ellen MacCarthy, daughter of Sir Cormac MacCarthy Reagh.3 He died on 10 April 1581 at Dublin Castle, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, a prisoner.1
     James Fitz Richard Barry, 4th Viscount Barry also went by the nick-name of James roe.3 He murdered Redmond Barry, without issue.2 He murdered John Barry, without issue.2,4 He succeeded as the 17th Lord Barry [I., c. 1261] on 20 March 1557/58.1 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Barry [I., 1541] on 20 March 1557/58.1 On 18 March 1560/61 he received by indenture from Edmond Barry of Rathgobbane (the rightful heir to the peerage) a surrender of the various estates to him and his heirs for ever.1 He was appointed Knight on 30 March 1567 at County Limerick, IrelandG, by the Lord Deputy.3 On 5 April 1567 he received a Commission to execute martial law.3 He is said to have murdered his cousins Redmond and John, in order to secure the peerage. He is also said to have then done away with their brothers, Richard and David.1

     Ellen MacCarthy was born illegitimately.2 She is the daughter of Sir Cormac MacCarthy Reagh.1 She married James Fitz Richard Barry, 4th Viscount Barry, son of Richard Barry and Isabel Fitzgerald.1
     Her married name became Barry.1
