     Elizabeth St. Clair was the daughter of Henry St. Clair, 1st/10th Lord Sinclair and Grizel Cockburn.2 She married David Wemyss, 4th Earl of Wemyss, son of Sir James Wemyss, Lord Burntisland and Margaret Wemyss, Countess of Wemyss, circa 5 July 1716.1 She died in 1721.1
     After her marriage, Elizabeth St. Clair was styled as Countess of Wemyss circa 5 July 1716. Her married name became Wemyss.

     Lady Elizabeth Sutherland was the daughter of William Sutherland, 17th Earl of Sutherland and Lady Elizabeth Wemyss.2,1 She married Hon. James Wemyss of Wemyss, son of James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss and Janet Charteris, on 29 August 1757.2 She died on 24 January 1803.3
     Her married name became Wemyss.

Janet Charteris1

     Janet Charteris was the daughter of Colonel Francis Charteris and Helen Swinton.1 She married James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss, son of David Wemyss, 4th Earl of Wemyss and Lady Anne Douglas, on 4 October 1720.2 She and James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss were separated after 1732.1 She died on 1 March 1778.1
     After her marriage, Janet Charteris was styled as Countess of Wemyss on 4 October 1720. From 4 October 1720, her married name became Wemyss.

David Wemyss, 6th Earl of Wemyss

     David Wemyss, 6th Earl of Wemyss was born on 30 July 1721. He was the son of James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss and Janet Charteris.2 He was baptised on 31 July 1721 at Wemyss, Fife, Scotland.3 He married Sofie Frederikke Vilhelmine von Uexkull-Güldenband, daughter of Karl Gustav Friedrich Graf von Uexkull-Güldenband, on 9 September 1776 at Beutal, Switzerland.4 He died on 29 April 1787 at age 65 at Paris, France, without surviving male issue.5
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.2 He was educated at Academy Angers, Angers, France.2 He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers in 1742.2 He gained the rank of Colonel of Dragoons in February 1743/44, by titular King James III.2 He was Aide-de-Camp to Bonnie Prince Charles before 1745.2 He fought in the Siege of Stirling.2 He fought in the Battle of Prestonpans on 21 September 1745.2 In 1746 he was attainted.2 He fought in the Battle of Falkirk on 17 January 1745/46.2 He fought in the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1752 in the Regiment of FitzJames.2 He gained the rank of Colonel between 1756 and 1763 in the Royal Scots in French Service.2 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Elcho and Methil [S., 1633] on 21 March 1756, de jure.2 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Wemyss of Elcho [S., 1628] on 21 March 1756, de jure.2 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Wemyss [S., 1633] on 21 March 1756, de jure.2

Francis Charteris, 7th Earl of Wemyss1

     Francis Charteris, 7th Earl of Wemyss was born on 21 October 1723.1 He was the son of James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss and Janet Charteris.2 He married Lady Catherine Gordon, daughter of Alexander Gordon, 2nd Duke of Gordon and Lady Henrietta Mordaunt, on 12 September 1745.2 He died on 24 August 1808 at age 84.1
     He was given the name of Francis Wemyss at birth.1 On 24 February 1731/32 his name was legally changed to Francis Charteris.1 He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers in 1747.1 In 1771 by Act of Parliament he was allowed to keep the surname and arms of Charteris and the entailed estates of his maternal grandfather in the event of his succeeding to the Earldom of Wemyss or any other dignity, depsite the provisions to the contrary in the entail.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Elcho and Methil [S., 1633] on 29 April 1787, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Wemyss [S., 1633] on 29 April 1787, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Wemyss of Elcho [S., 1628] on 29 April 1787, de jure.1

     Hon. James Wemyss of Wemyss was born on 23 February 1726.2 He was the son of James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss and Janet Charteris.2 He married Lady Elizabeth Sutherland, daughter of William Sutherland, 17th Earl of Sutherland and Lady Elizabeth Wemyss, on 29 August 1757.2 He died on 10 May 1786 at age 60.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sutherland.2

     Randolph Gordon Erskine-Wemyss of Wemyss was born on 11 July 1858.2 He was the son of James Hay Erskine-Wemyss and Augusta Millicent Anne Mary Kennedy-Erskine.2 He married, firstly, Lady Lillian Mary Paulet, daughter of John Paulet, 14th Marquess of Winchester and Hon. Mary Montagu, on 18 July 1884.2 He and Lady Lillian Mary Paulet were divorced in 1898.2 He married, secondly, Lady Eva Cecilia Margaret Wellesley, daughter of William Henry Wellesley, 2nd Earl Cowley and Emily Gwendoline Williams, on 23 November 1898.1 He died on 17 July 1908 at age 50.2
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2

     James Hay Erskine-Wemyss was born on 29 August 1829.1 He was the son of Rear-Admiral James Erskine Wemyss of Wemyss and Lady Emma Hay.1 He married Augusta Millicent Anne Mary Kennedy-Erskine, daughter of Hon. John Kennedy-Erskine and Lady Augusta Fitz-Clarence, on 17 May 1855.1 He died on 29 March 1864 at age 34.1
     He was given the name of James Hay Wemyss at birth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Fife.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Fife.1 He lived at Wemyss Castle, East Wemyss, Fife, Scotland.1

     Rear-Admiral James Erskine Wemyss of Wemyss was born on 9 July 1789.2 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. William Wemyss and Frances Erskine.2 He married Lady Emma Hay, daughter of William Hay, 17th Earl of Erroll and Alicia Eliot, on 8 August 1826.2 He died on 3 April 1854 at age 64.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) between 1820 and 1847.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Fife in 1820.2 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy.1 He lived at Wemyss Castle, East Wemyss, Fife, Scotland.2

James Wemyss of Wemyss and Lady Elizabeth Sutherland.1 He married Frances Erskine, daughter of General Sir William Erskine of Torry, 1st Bt. and Frances Moray, on 16 September 1788.1 He died on 4 February 1822 at age 61.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General.1 He lived at Wemyss Castle, Fife, ScotlandG.1
