Douglas Fitzgerald McConnel.4 She married Brigadier Arthur Valerian Wellesley, 8th Duke of Wellington, son of Lt.-Col. Gerald Wellesley, 7th Duke of Wellington and Dorothy Violet Ashton, on 28 January 1944 at St. George's Cathedral, Jerusalem, IsraelG.5 She died on 1 November 2010 at age 88.2
     After her marriage, Diana Ruth McConnel was styled as Marchioness of Douro on 28 January 1944.6 From 28 January 1944, her married name became Wellesley. After her marriage, Diana Ruth McConnel was styled as Duchess of Wellington on 4 January 1972.6 She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in June 2007.7
