     Commander Richard Oliver Bruce Long was born on 13 August 1914 at Bracondale Woods, Norwich, Norfolk, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Colonel William Hoare Bourchier Long and Vera Cecily Marchant Oliver.1 He married Marian Charlotte Marling, daughter of Sir Charles Murray Marling and Lucia Slade, on 9 May 1944 at Westminster Cathedral, London, EnglandG.1 He and Marian Charlotte Marling were divorced in 1953.2 He died on 5 December 1982 at age 68 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 9 December 1982 at Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.2

     Marian Charlotte Marling was born on 1 August 1915.1 She was the daughter of Sir Charles Murray Marling and Lucia Slade.2 She married Commander Richard Oliver Bruce Long, son of Colonel William Hoare Bourchier Long and Vera Cecily Marchant Oliver, on 9 May 1944 at Westminster Cathedral, London, EnglandG.1 She and Commander Richard Oliver Bruce Long were divorced in 1953.3 She died on 6 August 1978 at age 63.1
     She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1944.3 From 9 May 1944, her married name became Long.1 She gained the rank of Junior Commander in the Auxiliary Territorial Serivice, during the Second World War.1 She held the office of Member of the Berkshire County Council.3 She was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.) in 1957.3
