Well Hello Again

Hi friends! Does anyone remember me? I'm not even sure I remember how to blog anymore. It's been quite a year. 2020 was a tough one, and 2021 is giving it some competition. We've been mostly staying home, going for Sunday drives, walking the pups, and did I mention, staying home?

Brian and I are still working, as we have throughout the pandemic. He works for the USPS and I'm a teaching assistant in third grade. My school district went remote last March for the rest of that school year, then we opened fully in September. We were able to stay open until the week before Christmas when we had to go remote. After Christmas, we returned to a hybrid model, and starting Monday, we are back to being fully open. Although the numbers are going down, and have stayed pretty low in New Hampshire, the town I work in has pretty high numbers. It is in the top five NH towns for Covid, so that's a little worrisome. And the fact that our governor has not prioritized school staff for vaccines in our state.

This photo shows where I did remote teaching.

We haven't done a lot of new projects lately, but one of the things I've been adding to our home is more houseplants. I have found it to be a gentle and soothing hobby. I started with a few badly neglected plants, have purchased a few more, and a couple of generous neighbors have been rooting some of theirs for me. Since the plants all needed to be repotted, I had to purchase a lot of new pots and saucers. I found the terracotta pots were the most affordable option. I whitewashed most of them and I have a lot of happy plants right now.

I'm going to try to get back to regular blogging again. I have had a few requests on Instagram, where I am most active to get back at it. So consider today to be a trial run, seeing if I can get back in the game.

And now here's a photo dump of some of our new family members.

Gardens, Dogs and Little Red Wagons

Hello friends!  Well, it's been a minute. Life has certainly changed in the last few months. I wish I had kept up with blogging, but I'm hoping to become a little more regular. I spend most of my social media time over on Instagram where I post almost daily @thelongawaitedhome.

Brian and I have been staying home as much as possible. He must go to his job at the USPS everyday, and I did remote learning as a teaching assistant until school ended, but now I'm home all the time. I have been spending long days in the gardens and there is absolutely no where else I'd rather be these days. The pups are getting so used to me being home, they have anxiety anytime I need to go out without them. They have been my buddies throughout the quarantine, and we spend long days outside together. Our gardens have never looked better, and I really am relishing the endless time I have to tend to them.

I recently partnered with Radio Flyer and I have been using my All Terrain Steel & Wood Radio Flyer Wagon everyday. It is strong and sturdy and I drag it everywhere, from across the lawn to up and over the perennial beds. I carry plants and gardening tools (and some dog treats too).  I love the style and sense of nostalgia this wagon brings to my gardening days. It really is delightful to have fun and useful tools to use. I love this wagon and highly recommend it! If you'd like to purchase your own wagon, click on the link below.

This is a sponsored post. I have partnered with Radio Flyer Inc.

White Chippy Rusty Stool

My search for a chair-side table is finally  over. If you know me at all, you know that I can look for the perfect piece forever. Once I have an idea in my mind, I won't settle for something else, and I can be very patient. I have gone well over a year in search of a hutch for a space in my kitchen. My biggest obstacle - price. I won't pay a lot for almost anything. So I search Craigslist, go to yard sales, Goodwill, and keep my eye out on the side of the road.

And the Wall Came Down...

The wall comes down!
 Hallelujah!

One of the big projects we wanted to do in our home which we've been in for about 3 years is to take down the wall between the dining room and family room.

Holidays & Hurting Hearts

Home.
One of my favorite words.
Is there any place I would rather be?
God has given our family this wonderful home.

THOUGHTS ON A SUMMER DAY

It is quiet at my house right now.  My husband has left for work.  He works the night shift and leaves after lunch.  My daughter is visiting a friend for a few days in New Hampshire's White Mountains, and my son is at the movies seeing the Dark Knight again.

My house is clean.   It tends to stay that way these days.  No more little ones running around, making messes.  No more toys.   I baked a cake this morning and ran to the market.  Tomorrow I am making a meal for a friend who has cancer.  I have time to do these things now.

The Long Awaited Home!

Our new home - Farmhouse circa 1830

The Lord is good.  We are in our new home and only He could have orchestrated the details so perfectly.  I love this house!  It is 182 years old, and was once a schoolhouse.  There are perennial beds everywhere - and they all need tending to.  We have weeded and edged two of them so far.  I love getting my hands dirty and have missed it for the last 3 years.
