For this week and this week only, The Blot is going to try something different. I’m going to have a different topic each day with corresponding posts. No clue how it’s going to work but let’s try it out anyway. As you can probably guess, today is all about Watchmen.
If you saw Quantum of Solace this past weekend then you got to see the newest trailer for the upcoming DC Comics movie Watchmen directed by Zack Snyder. The trailer is absolute genius, and was so good I almost cried. True story. Now I’m kind of worried about what the effect the actual movie will have on me. Watchmen is an amazing story and is so much more than your typical heroes in spandex narrative. Thankfully, the movie appears to be living up to the high standards set by the comic book series way back in 1987. You can watch the newest Watchmen trailer below or go here to see a much larger version.
Watchmen premieres on March 6th, 2009.

James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace Final Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster
While I have always enjoyed the 007 film franchise and really loved 2006’s re-start of the series starring Daniel Craig as the debonair British secret agent James Bond, nothing I’ve seen concerning the Quantum of Solace has really gotten me excited for this, the 22nd James Bond film.
The trailer made the film look just like any other generic action flick and the movie’s final theatrical one sheet promo poster (which you can see above) is a total snoozer. The color of it is bland and worst of all, it’s just plain boring. Didn’t anyone tell Craig that Bond always holds his gun up in the films’ movie posters? I think if the franchise is really trying to regain that old school, retro feel they should have gone back to the 70’s style James Bond movie posters with those groovy multi-colored illustrations.
Quantum of Solace sneaks into theaters on November 14, 2008.

Bond, James Bond
EON Productions and the Broccoli family have finally released the first teaser promotional poster for the 22nd installment of the 007 franchise, Quantum of Solace. This just might be the worst title for a Bond film ever, but it’s pretty hard to compete with classic Bond titles such as Octopussy and Moonraker.
The problem I’m having with the movie’s title is that every time I read or hear about Quantum of Solace I keep picturing the Pontiac Solstice, and that can’t be the connection they’re aiming for. Thankfully Daniel Craig is returning for his second film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond, so I’m anticipating this movie will be as good or better than 2006’s Casino Royale.
