The much talked about Super Mario 64 PC port that was built from the ground up from leaked source code is improving graphically, and in a big way. A modder who goes by Dario online is working on adding ray tracing to this version of the game, and so far, it looks far better than even the Super Mario 3D All Stars for the Nintendo Switch. Since it’s a work in progress, you won’t see a masterpiece just yet, but the game still runs quite nicely on an NVIDIA GTX 1080 (720p, 30 fps) without ray tracing.
Ultimately, Dario has no plans on integrating the ray tracing renderer with other popular mod projects, but rather make the solution modular enough so it can be integrated into their project if they wish to do so with minimal effort. Who knows, we may see a a Sonic and Mario 64 game in the near future, like the fan creation you see below.
- LEGO Super Mario Adventures Starter course toy features an interactive figure of Mario, a Goomba figure, Bowser Jr. and a buildable course, making it...
- LEGO Mario figure has color sensors, plus LCD screens in his eyes, mouth and belly to display over 100 different instant reactions to movement
- This Super Mario buildable toy also has a speaker that plays iconic sounds and music from the classic video game
- Discover (or rediscover) three of Mario’s most memorable adventures all in one package—available on the Nintendo Switch system
- Take these three adventures on the go with the Nintendo Switch system’s handheld or tabletop mode
- Jump into paintings to collect Power Stars and save Princess Peach in the Super Mario 64 game
Making some slow but steady progress towards having an actual material system that is applied based on the model instead of looking at texture IDs. No model editing required, as this is processed on runtime. Right now I hooked this material editor only to Mario for testing. pic.twitter.com/FAjUL6hpqA
