Valimali67 (talk) 13:56, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Wrong use of rank
[edit]Hello Donarius, here you deprecated a valid release date, this is wrong. Every release in every country is valid. This is not the sense of using this function.
- @2a00:20:902b:9ec6:983d:5b50:350c:5d82: I partially agree with you in this matter. I tested the effect of those modifications on a module, but the result was zero. But I think that the release date in Yugoslavia must be preferred, not normal. Donarius (talk) 14:53, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- When using a release date none of this dates are preferred, all are valid and equal. And when using a rank it might have effects on templates on other wikis. The next one comes along and set e.g. the swedish release on preferred, because they are not able to program their template properly. It has to be considered, that wikidata is an independent wiki as every other wiki is, too. Every manipulation in sense of one special wiki does not work.
- @2a00:20:902b:9ec6:983d:5b50:350c:5d82: The release date is only one: the first one (Yugoslavia). The rest is irrelevant. That's my opinion. If it were up to me, I would delete all other dates. Donarius (talk) 17:12, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- As I said, preferring a release date is not in sense of this function. There are releases given in many objects and it is not sure, that these dates are completely implanted or if the source has all dates listed, in this case IMDb. What when a new entry is made there? I've seen a lot of these cases and I added many missing dates in IMDb. So everyone can see the dates and what is the first given here. And you know, deleting valid entries is viewed as vandalism.
- I know that, my dear Mr. Anonymous who don't like to sign your name. It's just my opinion, I said above. I am very curious what answer you would get if you asked Mr. Kusturica when his film was released. A single date or many dates? :))

- OK, let's have the fun. ;) The only source for a release in 1988 is IMDb, are you sure that this is true? One have to consider that IMDb is made by users. This film is an international production from Yuguslavia, United Kingdom and Italy, as given in IMDb. And you know, this film has won several awards, so the director as best one at the Cannes Film Festival 1989 (Awards). This Festival was held from 11. Mai up to 23. Mai 1989, but this isn't listed in IMDb (Releases). Cannes is often the premiere of films, because it is big and international. The British Film Institute gives 1989 as release date (BFI). What I want to say is, we only can add an information but never can be sure, if this is the truth or someone has made an error on IMDb, this happens very often, too. Therefore it is impossible to commit to 100%. But this is what you would do by using rank preferred. ;) -- Mr. Anonymous
- Please, dont't waste my time. I understood what you say. I wish you a good day. Donarius (talk) 18:15, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

--Mishuletz (talk) 16:01, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
A omite informații înseamnă a ascunde adevărul. Donarius (talk) 15:07, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
