Saint Lawrence River, hydrographic system of east-central North America. It starts at the outflow of Lake Ontario and leads into the Atlantic Ocean in the extreme east of Canada, opening much of the interior of the North American continent. It forms the basis of the economically important Saint Lawrence Seaway.

The St. Lawrence River is a large river that runs from the North Atlantic Ocean through Canada and into the Great Lakes. This river allowed for explorers such as Samuel de Champlin to travel down it and explore parts of America easier . It was first traveled through by Jacques Carter in 1535 on his second voyage to Canada. This river allowed for an easier trading route between America and France without interfering by other colonies.

Located on the Saint Lawrence River, Québec city dates all the way back to 1608 and is one of the oldest cities in North America. Historic cobblestoned streets and stunning architectural landmarks speak to its colonial history and are just waiting to be explored.
