Her full title, "al-Sayyida al-Hurrat-ul" translates to "The noble lady who is free & independent, the woman sovereign who bows to no superior authority". She is married to her cousin, founder of the Sulayhid dynasty, Ali al-Sulayhi. This allows her name to be proclaimed alongside her husband's during the Khutba, or Friday prayer.
