For standard size pocket holes, @kregjig makes the 320, the 520 and the 720 pocket hole jigs. All three come with the drill bit, the square drive bit, and thickness gauge. They are designed to work with materials between 1/2” and 1 1/2” thick—so most plywoods, 1x and 2x lumber. The 320 is the smallest and least expensive. But, you’ll need to have a clamp to hold it while drilling (that’s not included with the jig). It’s small, easy to store and great for the occasional pocket hole. However, if you’re drilling a lot of them, it’s not the most efficient option. The 520 is a step up. It’s easy, I promise!
First, measure the thickness of the board you’ll be drilling into. If you’re working with common materials, they’ll usually be approximately 1/2”, 3/4”, or 1 1/2” thick.
Adjust the jig for that thickness (unless you’re using a @kregjig 720–it automatically adjusts itself 🙌).
Then adjust the drill bit to match.
Clamp your board in the jig and drill your pocket holes.
Now you’re ready to drive your screws and join your pieces! Make sure to use pocket hole screws—1” long for 1/2” material, 1 1/4” long for 3/4” thick (or 1x) material and 2 1/2” long for 2x material.
And It’s easy as that—drill, drive, done 🙌
