Tehran Niavaran Palace

The last Persian monarch to be coronated at Golestan Palace was Reza Shah. And Reza Shah built the Niavaran Palace Complex as his own modern palace. He was also responsible for ordering the demolition of portions of the Golestan Palace. The complex at Niavaran was quite modern, even by today’s standards. The main palace roof at Niavaran is on rollers and can be retracted by motors opening the internal hall to the sky.
