ELONGATED DROP STITCH

STITCH OF THE MONTH - March 2016 The Elongated Drop Stitch is a light and airy stitch pattern that is produced by wrapping the yarn around the needle a few times and then dropping the extra wraps from the needle on the following row. The more times the yarn is wrapped around the needle the longer the elongated stitches. I found that by gently pulling the fabric lengthwise after knitting the row dropping the wraps will take up the slack and even the stitches. Avoid having a single edge stitch…

The other day I demonstrated a new-to-me technique, the “twincrease” invented by @assia.brill 🙌🏼 Every other single increase that I know of is asymmetrical, so I’ve been experimenting with this one a LOT. On my last reel, one knitter asked how to do it on the wrong side, so I played around and came up with the technique above which I think looks indistinguishable from right side increases. Again, I tried it both with and without double wrapping the stitch to be used for the increase, and I definitely prefer the elongated stitch version as I think it really disappears into the fabric without any distortion. But you can do it the other way too. I think this is such a cool increase, and I have more fun to show you soon. The other day I demonstrated a new-to-me single balanced increase technique, the “twincrease” invented by @assia.brill 🙌🏼 Well, this double increase - the “T increase” also by Assia Brill - is based off the twincrease, and it leaves a beautiful tidy column of center stitches. Of every double increase that I know of, this is the only one that leaves that gorgeous untouched column of stockinette in the center. I think it would look amazing as raglan increases, don’t you?
