This stream is pictured within a few dozen yards of the Peak Cavern at Castleton in the Peak District. The water actually flows through the cave, where it is known as the River Styx. It exits at Russets Well in the adjacent garden. The water originates at Buxton, taking just over four days to flow the ten mile journey. On its way it flows through the Speedwell Cavern before reaching the Peak Cavern on its subterranean journey. It has never been known to dry up, and has been a valuable source…
