Dublin, Ireland, March 1981, the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, Mr Albert Reynolds demonstrates a new payphone, from which International dialling was possible, similar to British Telecom developing international payphones (the "Blue Payphone" as was) in the United Kingdom at the same time. Cardphones arrived in Ireland in 1987.
