How the <bleepity bleep> are we getting Milkshake Mode as a category before DC hardware/emulator split?
@Moderators this is making me go complete quackers right now (please don't DM me, i need a minute to calm down)
Hey there! Sorry about that, I can understand the frustration. There's a couple reasons why Milkshake Mode was added first.
1. There was a lot of interest in adding MM category to the board expressed by active runners. We had people asking for and doing these runs before it was added to the board.
2. There's a lot of categories of runs on the board that are very similar in how they play as they are mostly ports of the same game to different consoles. This run is providing a drastically different experience compared to most of the categories we have.
3. DC is a bit complicated when it comes to making an even playing field on console. Loads between consoles will vary a lot thanks to the aging disk drives and GDEMU providing some runners with an unfair advantage over others. Recently there's been efforts to remove load times using a program called Unload which might help. I'm probably gonna take a close look at it and see if we can reliably use it for timing our runs. If it works out than hopefully that will be the end of that.
That being said I totally agree we should separate the two, especially since we have a console run to compare emu to now and there is a clear performance difference between them(Big thanks to our Brobey for the first run<3).
I will be making changes and adjusting rules as we figure out load times. If someone has a GDEMU dreamcast and some spare time that would help a lot :)
Hello ducks!
On past weeks some runs were rejected as they were not following some rulings we had since some years ago, that at the moment those rules were added we believed that were gonna be useful to avoid cheating and help for a fair competition between runners.
Along active mods we began disc
