What is LPID?
LPID (License plate Identification) system uses image-

processing technologies to identify vehicles by their license plates. This system is used in various security and traffic applications, such as the parking security.

Problem Statement
Manual system has following problems:
vehicle security issues cases of unauthorized vehicle entry in an organization difficulty in keeping records of all cars, their time of

entrance or leave. cost of hiring security guards

Objective
The main objective of project is to implement License

Plate Identification System to ensure the authorized entry of vehicles in an organization. It involves the implementation of various image-processing techniques.

Purpose
The Purpose of LPID System is to ensure security in an

organization. It will guarantee that only authorized vehicle have been entered in organizations that are already registered in system.
Whenever some unregistered vehicle will try to enter, it

will display warning message showing vehicle is not authorized.


It will be time saving for drivers as well as cost effective

for the organization


This could replace or assist security guards at the gate or

barrier of premises.

It involves following main steps:
Capturing cars image. Extracting the image of license plate. Extracting characters of license plate image.

Recognizing license plate characters.

Maintain records.

Image processing techniques such as edge detection,

sampling, filtering, thresholding will be used to locate and isolate license plate.
Neural network will be used for training and

successful recognition of license plate characters.


Once the license plate accurately identified,

information about the vehicle can be obtained from database.


Archival system will be made to maintain all records.

Interfaces will be made for entering, updating information.

Advantages
System can keep an image record of the vehicle which is

useful in order to fight crime and fraud.


Integration of archival system may help to keep complete

record of time of entrance, car status whether permanent or guest etc.


This technology does not need any installation per car. An additional camera can focus on the driver face and save

the image for security reasons.
