• identify the simple tenses of verb,


• construct sentence using the
simple tenses of verbs.
Let’s review:
Last week, we discussed about be verbs in
sentences.

am is are was were


BE-VERB – are verbs that indicate the state of
being or verbs of being. They do not express
action. They tell what something is.
Remember:
am- is used with the pronoun i.
is- is used with singular or pronoun subjects.

are- is used with plural noun or pronoun


subjects.
was- is the past form of am and is.
were- is the past form of are.

WHAT IS VERB?
Verb tells an action that indicate the
state of being.it is the action word in
a sentence that describe what the
subject is doing.
Verbs Comes In Three Tenses
 PAST TENSE

 PRESENT TENSE

 FUTURE TENSE
The main purpose of a tense
Is to show when the action happen.

will occur (future)
Examples:
cook - base form
cooked - past
cooks or cooking - present
will cook
shall cook
future
Verbs that show actions or events
done in the past are in the Past Tense.
1. Regular verbs form their past by adding –d or –ed to their base
forms.

The Simple Present Tense describes
an action that is regularly or

Irregular Verbs
Irregular verbs change in spelling when they are used to show past tense .Here
are some examples of irregular verbs with their past forms .
