Introduction
• .Security describes protection of life and property.
• .It is protection from, or resilience against, potential harm (or other
unwanted coercion) caused by others, by restraining the freedom of others
to act.
• .A home security system is an essential aspect of ensuring the safety and
protection of our homes and loved ones. With advancements in technology,
smart home security systems have become increasingly popular due to
their convenience and effectiveness.
• .One such system is a smart home security system using arduino uno
• .Sensors play a crucial role in a smart home security system.
• The Arduino Uno microcontroller board is a versatile and widely used
platform that can be programmed to perform various tasks.
• When utilized in a home security system, the Arduino Uno acts as the
brain, controlling and monitoring different aspects of the system.
• The primary objective of a smart home security system is to detect any
potential threats or breaches and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.
• Motion sensors can detect any movement within specified areas, while
flamme sensors can detect unauthorized entry.
• Gas sensors can identify hazardous gases, such as carbon monoxide,
ensuring the safety of occupants.
• When a sensor detects an event, it sends a signal to the Arduino Uno,
which then processes the data and triggers an appropriate action.
• This could include activating an alarm, sending a notification to the
homeowner's smartphone, or even contacting emergency services.
Smart home security system
• A smart home is defined by its interconnected devices, communicating via
an internet connection.
• Thus, a smart home security system is a collection of security components
connected and controlled by arduino uno.
• Using technology-driven security innovations encourages higher levels of
protection and system availability, as well as increased peace of mind for
property owners that they can monitor their home from wherever.
• House security system is one of security that truly related to burglar or
safety alarm system.
• Burglar and safety alarms are found in electronic form nowadays.
• Sensors are connected to a control unit via either a low-voltage hardwire
which in turn connects to a means for announcing the alarm to elicit
response.
Problem Statement
• The problem statement for the smart home security system using Arduino
is to design and develop a reliable and efficient security solution that can
protect homes from intruders, monitor and detect potential hazards, and
provide remote access and control for homeowners.
• The system should be affordable, easy to install and use, and integrate
seamlessly with other smart devices in the home.
• The goal is to provide homeowners with a comprehensive and cost-
effective security system that ensures their safety and peace of mind.
• Security is important even if you have outstanding public safety agencies
in your area.
• So we would like to implement our project to do everything possible to
make your house secure rather than just relying on others. With the
increasing busy schedules people rely on machines to support them in this
modern world.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
• Home security should have double meanings; one refers to the life and
safety, two-finger property theft.
• Traditional home security is to install a passive infrared detector, which is
characterized installed in the interior, so the room unattended, its role in the
protection of property theft can be achieved.
• Active infrared detectors, and its strong anti-interference performance, and
also mounted on the outside, the indoor human activity has nothing to do,
as long as the external entrance of your house equipped with active
infrared detectors, once someone enter the room, on the timely warning,
life security is guaranteed, the property is intact. Play a defensive back, the

Hardware design
Arduino uno
• The Arduino Uno is a type of Arduino board that is provided as an open-
source board that uses an ATmega328p micro controller in the board.
• The Arduino Uno contains a set of analog and digital pins that are input
and output pins which are used to connect the board to other components.
• There are a total of fourteen I/O pins placed inboard in which six are
analog input pins. The board has a USB connection that can be used to a
power supply to the board. The board is used for electronics projects and
used to design the circuit.
• The Arduino UNO is categorized as a micro-controller that uses the
ATmega328 as a controller in it.
• The Arduino UNO board is used for an electronics project and mostly
preferred by the beginners. The Arduino UNO board I type of Arduino
board only.
Lcd(liquid crystal display)
• LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module and
find a wide range of applications. The LCD stands for liquid crystal display,
that works on the light modulation features of liquid crystals.
• It is available in electronic visible display, video display and flat panel
display.
• There are numerous categories and features are exits in markets of LCD
and you can see it on your mobile, laptop, computer and television screen.
• The invention of LCD gives new life to electronic industries and replaces
lED and gas plasma techniques. It also replaces the CTR (cathode ray) tube
that used for visual display.
flame sensor
• A sensor which is most sensitive to a normal light is known as a flame
sensor. That’s why this sensor module is used in flame alarms.
• This sensor detects flame otherwise wavelength within the range of 760
nm – 1100 nm from the light source.
• This sensor can be easily damaged to high temperature.
• So this sensor can be placed at a certain distance from the flame.
• The flame detection can be done from a 100cm distance and the detection
angle will be 600. The output of this sensor is an analog signal or digital
signal.
• These sensors are used in fire fighting robots like as a flame alarm.
• A flame-sensor is one kind of detector which is mainly designed for
detecting as well as responding to the occurrence of a fire or flame.
Buzzer
• What is a Buzzer?
• An audio signaling device like a
beeper or buzzer may be
electromechanical or piezoelectric
or mechanical type.

• Generally, it is powered through

DC voltage and used in timers,
alarm devices, printers, alarms,
computers, etc.
• Based on the various designs, it
can generate different sounds like
alarm, music, bell & siren.
Gas sensor
• A Typical human nose has 400 types of scent receptors enabling us to
smell about 1 trillion different odours. But still many of us do not have
the capacity to identify the type or concentration of gas present in our
atmosphere.
• This is where Sensors comes in, there are many types of sensors to
measure different parameters and a Gas sensor is one which comes
handy in applications where we have to detect the variation in the
concentration of toxic gases in order to maintain the system safe and
avoid/caution any unexpected threats.
• There are various gas sensors to detect gases like oxygen, Carbon
Dioxide, Nitrogen, methane etc
• They can also be commonly found in devices that are used to detect
the leakage of the harmful gases, monitor the air quality in industries
and offices etc.
PIR SENSOR
Sensor is an electronic sensor that measures infrared light radiating from
objects. PIR sensors mostly used in PIR-based motion detectors.
Also, it used in security alarms and automatic lighting applications.
The below image shows a typical pin configuration of the PIR sensor,
which is quite simple to understand the pinouts.

What does a PIR Sensor detect?

Generally, PIR sensor can detect animal/human movement in a
requirement range
PIR is made of a pyroelectric sensor, which is able to detect different
levels of infrared radiation. The detector itself does not emit any energy
but passively receives it.
It detects infrared radiation from the environment.
