INTRODUCTION
Internship is a period of work experience offered by organization for a
fixed period of time. It is gives a real-life experience of the work place,
practical skill.

Notice what challenge we face on a daily basis

1.2 Background of the organization
• The company was established in 1994 E.C after the former freight transport
corporation is sub divided in to six company by the federal government
proclamation. And then established as bekelcha transport share company under
privatization agency in 2001 GC to provide a dry freight transport for inland,
import and export all over the country.

• In 2014 the company is privatized and is now owned by Tikur Abay Transport
Share Company with the property of Tiret Corporation.

2.1 Major duty we were given to perform

Knowing (by names) and working with tools, machine, or equipment


Following orders or instructions
Punctuality, locality, responsiblity
Working as a member of a team
Assist and involve day-to-day tasks
Observe repairing order
Ask and show that we are willing to learn
Knowing how to lift the heavy objects
2.2 How we become oriented with responsibility

As we know our education policy is depend on theory than


practice or we spent much of our time on theory than
practice, this makes difficult our apparent directly to start.
Gradually we familiarize our self with work, through times
we are oriented with our duties by the help of our
supervisor.
2.3 The help of supervisor to succeed our assignment

• Most of the time our supervisor oversees or supervise what we


are doing, makes the internship easier by clear guidance, training
opportunity related to a subject, deliver work for us to do it to
answer the questions we ask.

CHAPTER 3
Specific job information
3.1 Daily technical duties and responsibility we had during the
internship

On our Heavy maintenance section, we do a lot of thing through


practice and try to find what is the problem and what is the solution
also.
Observe repairing orders
Maintaining or fixing things
Be cheerful and cooperative with those around us
Distinguish trucks engine parts, spare parts (either Iveco or Sino
truck)

3.3 Technical knowledge and skill from our course
were beneficial for our assignment
• This internship is offered by our university which helps us to meet the
theoretical knowledge with practical training and to make us compete
with rest of the world. Before that we taken some courses that helped us
to understand the subjects related to the field and perform our tasks such
as
Thermodynamics 2
Fluid mechanics
Internal combustion (IC ENGINE)
Strength 1 & 2 etc

Main points to include in the report
4.1 Description and products of the company
• Bekelcha share company is not manufacturing industry but it is an
automotive service that owned more than 150 different model heavy
load trucks, modern garage facilities. Currently the company provides
warehouse and machinery service for the customers who comes for
custom clearance at Adama branch custom office. And also the
company gives packing service for different size truck and driving
training service for public 1, public 2, freight 2 and three licensing
grade.
4.2 Major services of the company
• The service that a company gives by three sections

Heavy Maintenance section


Light maintenance section
Insurance section

Maintenance includes functional checks, servicing,


repairing or replacing of necessary devices, equipment.
On the heavy maintenance section
-Engine maintenance
-Gear box maintenance
-Clutch maintenance
-Differential maintenance
-Nozzle test

On the light maintenance On the insurance section


-Axle maintenance -Body maintenance
-Brake maintenance -Painting
-Welding -Repairing badly damaged parts
-Cabin Jack maintenance
Engine maintenance
Assembly and disassembly of the engine
The maintenance(repairing) tasks include
• Changing the oil and filter
If there is-- a poor quality seal material
Loss of oil
--inadequate surface protector
Corrosion
--poor quality housing
Housing can burst
• Changing the air filter
• Changing the fuel filter
 checking out (functional checks) the engine sign of failure
like
• checking the engine is overheating
-cause of low coolant level
• check if the engine won’t start
-problem with the battery, the engine will make a clicking
• checking smoke or steam
-because of worn gaskets, bad cylinder and using wrong oil grade
Gearbox maintenance

listen or touch the gearbox vibration


checking oil leak on the input and out shaft
check gear tooth either damaged or not
check the color of transmission fluid that might be indication of
overheating
checking the response which means rough shift (refuse to change gear as
it normally does, sometimes we notice clunk or thud when the truck shifts
gear)
Clutch maintenance
There are some problems need to be repaired;
• Sticking(it become difficult to press the clutch down/ seems to get
stuck close to the floor that might be strong indication that the
problem with hydraulic linkage)
• Slipping(when the pad has no enough friction between the pressure
plate and flywheel, there will be worn out of clutch)
• Sound(grinding or grating sound)
Differential maintenance
Trucks with high mileage are more likely to need differential repair
• A whistling noise on or near the axle
• A clunking sound near the axle when accelerating or coasting
• A dragging feeling on the car when coasting
Injector Nozzle test
The injector tester consists of a pressure gauge, oil container, shut off
valve, pump lever, test pump, injector, high pressure fuel pump

• The injector to be tested is fitted to the injector testing equipment


• The valve which is used to control the fuel is opened and then the handle is
pressed downwards
• causes the fuel to be sprayed through the injector
• The reading in the pressure gauge shows atm. pressure
Axle maintenance

• Service bearings
• Check the cutter pins
• Check lock nut
• Check spacers
Insurance section
• Review damage reports, prepare cost estimates, and plan work
• Remove damage body parts including bumpers, fenders, hoods, grilles,
and trim
• Realign truck frames and chassis to repair structural damage
• Fit, attach and weld replacement parts into place
• Apply new finish to restored body parts
CONCLUSION
Internship can provide a great transition between the education process and a
career or fill the gap that theoritical education does not address.

There is a lot of things we get during the internship. It is helpful to improve our
practical skills, improve our communication skills, improve our work ethics,
improving our leadership skills and as we yield our team playing knowledge

Communicating with the foreign company's that are helpful for us,
for the university and also for our country.

Have a shelter on the heavy maintenance


Have enough spare parts
Should buy a good quality material to repair their trucks
 Have a safety material
