Area of study
 Kifl Oil Field is located in central Iraq between the
governorates of Najaf and Karbala, 125km southwest of
Baghdad, 20km west Kifl, 40km south of Karbala
 Field was discovered in 1960 and showed oil in several
geological formations, including the Nahr Umr and
Zubair formations.
 Four wells (one exploration and three appraisals) were
drilled in the field in order to assess the oil
accumulation and production potential of its reservoirs.
 Oil production rate from Zubair reservoir was 5600
STB/d of KF-1 well and 232 STB/d of KF-4 well.
Objective
CAPEX & OPEX estimation of the two proposed production scenarios
of the Zubair reservoir in the Kifl oil field.
Data and software Required
• QUE$TOR Q1/2015 Software
• Field development plan data
CapEx and OpEx
Capital expenditures cost (CapEx)
In the oil field the cost related to the equipment, materials, and construction costs for Drilling, Well pad groups,
Production facility, Storage and export, and Pipelines.
Operating expenditure cost (OpEx)
Operating costs are split into direct and indirect costs illustrated as follows.
 Operating personnel
 Inspection and maintenance
Direct Cost
 Logistics and consumables
 Well maintenance
 Insurance
 Field/project costs
 Tariff costs Indirect cost
 CO2 emission taxes
 Lease costs

Drilling profile
• The form allows the type, bottom hole location (as defined by the
TVD, horizontal shift, and horizontal section length), profile type,
completion and drilling duration of each well to be specified
individually.
• Vertical wells
• Horizontal wells
• Multilateral wells

Well pad group
• The well pad group component lists all of the well pads, wells, well
location equipment, and flowlines required to connect to a
production facility.
