Pullback Trading
Strategy

What is pullback
• Market does not move in straight line.

• Every trend has pullbacks.
• Pullbacks are temporary oppositions of an ongoing trend.
• They may be weak or strong.
• We trade only continuation trades, so we'll find weak pullback & trade
them.

Weak Pullback
• When the pullback occurs, the volume will be lesser.

• The momentum will keep decreasing.

Strong Pullback
• When the pullback occurs, the volume will be Higher.

• The momentum will not decrease.
• Avoid trading them.

Steps of Pullback Trading
• Identify the Trend
• Find S/R regions
• Identify the Pullback around S/R region or VWAP line.
• Wait for confirmation of Weakness of Pullback
• Look for any Bullish reversal candlestick pattern for entry
• Entry in direction of trend
• Ride with trailing SL

Signs of End of Pullback -
1. Stopping volume -
"Operator buys in red candle & sells in green candle."

When in pullback, a candle forms with very high volume but low spread,
it's stopping volume. This is formed because operator is buying & they'll
take the price in direction of initial trend soon.
Wait for confirmation.

Signs of End of Pullback -
2. End of falling market -
When price is decreasing in a pullback and at last the volume dries up, it
is sign of end of pullback. Wait for formation of green candle & then we
can go long here.

3 Bullish price action candlestick patterns
for entry -
• Engulfing
• Stop Hunting
• Shakeout

Engulfing
• One big candle of opposite color compared to the trend.

• It's size completely bigger than previous candle.
• Volume of this candle is considerably more.

Stop hunting
• It occurs at major S/R zones.

• Tips to avoid stop hunting -
• Always wait for the candle to close
• Check the background. If there is strength in original trend, then only
take trade.

Shakeout
• In uptrend, Operators will try to remove weak buyers and trap early
sellers.
• This is a type of Breakout Failure.
• You will think that pullback will continue , but it'll reverse.
• Occurs at S/R region.
• Two types of Shakeout are there -
1. High volume shakeout
2. Low volume shakeout

High Volume Shakeout
• In the phase of pullback, a Big candle of same color (as that of

pullback) with High volume will form.
• You will think that trend will continue and take entry.
• Immediately another big candle of opposite color will form.
• Your SL will be hit & operator's mission will become successful.

• You should wait for confirmation after a high volume Shakeout occurs.
How -
• Suppose there is an uptrend initially. Then a pullback occurs in
downside. Then a big red candle will form with high volume, but this
candle will not get follow through. After this shakeout, green candles
will start forming. Then one red candle will form which will have less
volume. This will confirm that this was a shakeout, now price will go
up.

Low Volume Shakeout
• In the phase of pullback, a Big candle of same color (as that of

pullback) with Low volume will form.
• You will think that trend will continue and take entry.
• Immediately another big candle of opposite color will form.
• Your SL will be hit & operator's mission will become successful.

• You can take direct entry in the direction of original trend after a Low
volume shakeout. No need to wait for confirmation.

Why are gaps formed
• Aggressive overnight activity by operators.

• As usual, they will try everything to deceive us make
our loss.

Importance of gaps
• They act as important S/R level.

Factors to look before taking
trade
• How was yesterday's closing activity.
• Where has the gap formed.
• Where is the nearest S/R level.
• What is strength & color of first candle.

Two types of Gap trading
• Gap Go.
• Gap Fill Reversal

Gap Go
• Used when the gap is not so big.

• Use the gap as S/R and trade using anyone strategy -
• Pullback
• ORB

Gap Fill Reversal
• Used when the gap is comparatively bigger.

• Wait for price to fill the gap and then trade accordingly.
• During filling, the volume should decrease.
• Any reversal pattern should form.
• Can take trade after Retest / Pullback.

Buy Low Sell
High

• Whenever market is in Range and both Support & Resistance is holding up,
this technique is used.
• Putting a SL just beyond the range is necessary, because range may break
anytime.
