 DEFINATION
It is an NDT used to detect
the discontinuities in ferromagnetic
materials such as iron, nickel, cobalt
and some of their alloys.
 COMPONENTS
1. Current carrying wires
2. Workpiece
3. Magnetic flux in leg of yoke
 PROCEDURE
1.Run a magnetic current
through a material. If defects are
present it will create a flux leakage
field.
2. Spread metal particles over the
material in the form of powder. The
powder particles will attached at the
flux leakage place.
 APPLICATIONS
1. Automotive Industries
2. Petrochemical Industries
3. Power Generation
4. Aerospace Industries
5. Underwater Inspection
 ADVANTAGES
1. Quick and uncomplicated process
2. It show surface near defect.
3. Excellent for detecting flaws
 DISADVANTAGES
1. Restricted to ferromagnetic materials
2. It is messy process
3. Most method need supply of
electricity at that age which is costly process.
