Relativity
Newtonian mechanics and early ideas on space
and time were formulated to describe the motion of such
objects, and this
formalism is very successful in describing a wide range
of phenomena.
According to Newtonian mechanics, if
the potential difference (as well as the corresponding energy) is
increased
by a factor of 4, then the speed of the electron should be doubled to
1.98c.
The laws of physics are the same in all reference systems that
move uniformly with respect to one another. That is, basic
laws have the same mathematical form for all observers
moving at constant velocity with respect to one another.
