“Continuing Learning
Opportunities through Virtual
Instructions and Discussions”
As the Philippines embraces the New Normal in Education amidst Covid-19
pandemic, educators face many changes and challenges in all learning areas. Among
these are the reductions of instructional time; emphasizing the use of spiral approach;
and doing away with content which are disintegrated and fragmented. These changes and
challenges necessitate highly trained and confident teachers who are ready to perform
their role as facilitators of learning.
In this regard, Sto. Rosario Elementary School will be conducting SCHOOL-
BASED INSET with the theme “Continuing Learning Opportunities through Virtual
Interaction and Discussions” for the School Year 2021-2022 on August 30 to Sept 3,
2021. The said activities aim to support the continuous personal and professional
teaching development of the teachers, provide enabling mechanism for lifelong learning
which includes adequate opportunities to refine and demonstrate essential competencies
on content pedagogy and promote DepEd’s commitment to development of teachers’
potential and improvement of practice and learner achievement.
This School INSET focuses on various activities that aligned to the BE-LCP in
unpacking of MELCS, standards during online interaction with learners , accuracy,
neatness, and cleanliness in filling in school forms, creating video lessons/ instructional
videos, and using Microsoft teams in conducting online classes that will provide
opportunities and technical assistance to our teachers in the delivery of basic education
services in the New Normal Education to our pupils and ultimately increase their
academic performance.
Attending training was acquiring new learning, upskilling to perform efficiently,
increasing productivity, and specifically becoming better teachers.
School Year 2021-2022, was another tough year with complex challenges that
await due to COVID-19 pandemic. But despite those problems, surely we can surpass it
all. Difficulties in teaching and learning would be overcame through utilizing great
innovation of technology. We can pursue our goals and objectives to continue learning
which can be applied to our distance teaching.
In preparation with the opening of classes on September 13, 2021, Sto. Rosario
Elementary School conducted school-based In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET). It
helps upgrading teachers’ knowledge and skills to improve and develop teaching process.

August 30, 2021, was the first day of Sto. Rosario

Elementary School’s school-based In-Service Training
for Teachers. This was successfully done through the
cooperation of Kinder and Grade -1 teachers who
were assigned. Online Registration started at seven
a.m. and program proper began at exactly eight
o’clock in the morning. It was commenced by a prayer
and followed by the singing of the Philippine National
Anthem. Virtual Netiquette was given by Ms. Sherine
B. Campo, kindergarten teacher, and the attendance
was checked by Ms. Lizandra D. Callao, Grade- 1
teacher. Indeed! attendance was complete. Mr. Joe
Ralph C. Mabborang, Grade-2 teacher opened the
opening program with his heartwarming welcome
message. As the program went on, we were inspired
by Maam Marieta T. Junio, OIC/Principal, with her
inspirational piece of information. This training would
not be completed without someone who imparted her
knowledge and enlightened us about “Unpacking of
MELCs”. Ms. Evelyn T. Mausisa, resource speaker, was
kindly introduced by Ms. Lizandra D. Callao, Grade -1
teacher. We are privileged and blessed to have Ms.
Mausisa who shared her expertise about the
importance and ways on how to unpack MELCs. Those
learnings will surely be applied for the performance
improvement and development of teachers’ specific
knowledge. It also upskilled us about new skills to
enhance productivity and to practice efficiently. Before
the training ended, certificate was given to the
resource speaker as a symbol of thanks and
appreciations.
Indeed! Day 1 of INSET ended up with clarity and with
flying colors.

The 2nd day of 2021 In-Service Training for Teachers

was held last August 31, 2021, via virtual platform
Zoom. The training started at exactly 8:00 AM which
was attended by 17 teachers and 1 school head. The
program commenced by a prayer through audio-visual
presentation. The attendance check was done by
singing an attendance song given by Mrs. Virginia
Fulgueras. The program was also filled with inspiration
through Mr. Joe Ralph C. Mabborang as he gave his
positive insights about the "Thought for the Day"
followed by the recapitulation of yesterday’s training.
Mrs. Rhea Q. Santos, the host of the said training,
introduced the resource speaker to the participants.
In preparation for the opening of school year 2021-
2022, the topic of training was suitable for adaptation
of distance learning modality. Mrs. May B. Vergara, the
School DRRMC Coordinator and GAD Focal Person,
imparted her knowledge and enlightened us about
“Safeguarding Standards during Online Interaction with
Learners” as part of DepEd NCR Memorandum #238, s.
2020. The training was really helpful and gave us some
insights because it tackled about the Rights and
Responsibilities of learners, parents and teachers
during the conduct of online classes. The speaker
emphasizes also the do’s and don’ts during online
interaction. These safeguarding guidelines served as a
precautionary measure to avoid committing
misbehavior or misconduct during the online distance
learning.
Day-2 INSET concluded with fruitful learning and
success.

September 1, 2021 was the 3rd day of our In-

Service Training. The training started at exactly 8:00
in the morning. The program started with a prayer
followed by the singing of the Philippine National
Anthem. Ms. Trixie San Pedro gave a few reminders
about the online meeting etiquette. The

Mrs. Emily Dominguez gave her insights about the
Thought for the Day which is, “If you focus on
results, you will never change. If you focus on
change, you will get results..” –something to
ponder on to start the day.
The topic for today’s INSET was “Creating Video
Lesson: Process, Techniques, and Tools”. A very
helpful topic that will aid us in delivering quality
education to the learners. The resource speaker
was introduced by Mrs. Emily Dominguez. Teachers
often struggle to find ways to amplify their
curriculum. Ms. Jenellyn Vedasto, our resource
speaker, shared that video lessons can be a great
tool to assist students in gaining that deeper
understanding of content. It’s important to be
mindful of how often and how much teachers use
video—it’s important to have a clear purpose for
using that video lesson. After her talk, Ms. Trixie
San Pedro awarded the certificate to Ms. Vedasto
and the program ended by a closing remark from
our OIC-Principal, Mrs. Marieta Junio.
Everyone had fun during the training and surely did
learn a lot.

It was the 5th and last day of the In-service Training for the teachers of Sto. Rosario Elementary School

Our speaker was our OIC-Principal, Mrs. Marieta T. Junio. Her topic was “Guidelines on the Preparation and
Checking of School Forms” and “Bylaws of the School”.
She started her talk through presenting the rationale of the preparation and checking of school forms.
She emphasized that ensuring the quality and consistency of learner information are among the critical
activities conducted at the end of every school year. She defined some terms such as EBEIS, LIS, LRN,
Transferred-in, Transferred-out, Moved-in, Moved-out, and Temporary enrolled. Participants were active in

asked by teacher . She also instructed the participants the need to fill-in accurately and neatly all the
important data needed in the school forms.
Mrs. Junio’s second topic was Bylaws of the School. She stated that this creates a formal, transparent,

participation of everyone, the bylaws of the school was made.
After her talk, she gave us a thoughts to ponder with a quotation” Sometimes being understanding is more
important than being right…Sometimes we need not a brilliant mind that speaks but a patient heart that
listens…Not keen eyes that always see faults but open arms that accept…Not finger that points out mistakes
but gentle hands that lead.”
Mrs. Tomes led the awarding of certificate of the speaker. She also gave us a concluding thought with
the quotation “A candle loses nothing of its light by lighting another candle” by James Keller that means we
