The National AAYOG
Institution for Transforming India (NITI
Aayog) is a Government of India policy which was
established by the Narendra Modi government to replace
the Planning Commission.
Launched
On 1 January 2015 the Union Government of India had

announced the formation of NITI Aayog, and on 8

February 2015 the first meeting was arranged.


NITI Aayog mean:

•A group of people with authority entrusted


by the government to formulate/regulate
policies concerning transforming India.

•It is a commission to help government in


social and economic issues.

•Also it's an Institute of think tank with


experts in it.

the economic policy-making process by the

State Governments of India

FUNCTIONS & ROLES OF NITI
AAYOG
 To evolve a shared vision of national development
with the active involvement of States.
 To develop credible plans at the village level and
aggregate these at higher levels of government.
 To foster cooperative federalism with the States on a
continuous basis, recognizing that strong States make a
strong nation.
 To focus on technology upgradation and
implementation of programs and initiatives.
 To encourage partnerships between national and
international like-minded ‘Think-tanks’, as well as
educational and research institutions
 To create innovation and entrepreneurial
support system through national and international
experts.
 To pay special attention to the sections of our
society that may not be adequately benefiting
from economic progress.
 To offer a platform for resolution of inter
departmental issues.
 To maintain a state-of-the-art Resource Centre.
 To actively monitor the implementation of
programs and initiatives.
 To undertake activities necessary for national
development agenda.
