Background
WeChat is a Chinese multi-purpose messaging, social media and mobile
payment app developed by Tencent. It was first released in 2011, and
became one of the world's largest standalone mobile apps in 2018.
WeChat has been described as China's "app for everything" and a "super
app" because of its wide range of functions.
Feature Advantages
• Text/video/picture messaging
• WeChat moments – it’s like micro-blogging
• Official Accounts-Businesses can launch official accounts on WeChat. These are distinct from
general user accounts.
• E-wallet, Payment and Financial services-From a marketing perspective the monetization of
WeChat is fascinating. WeChat can be linked to a user’s bank account where they can make
payments via WeChat itself and paying through WeChat usually attracts no additional fee.
• Geo-localized marketing services-Based on a user’s location, content ads can be streamed at
the bottom of pages that are specifically tailored to the user’s preferences.
• Taxi Ordering is also available in wechat.
• WeChat QR Code- WeChat uses QR Codes to allow users to easily connect with each other
without the need to save them as a contact first.
Disadvantages
• In the workplace environment, WeChat can be an issue of misuse by
staff
• The size of WeChat is big. If downloaded on budget smart phone

Background
Instagram is the largest-growing social-media platform. Instagram
launched on 6th October 2010.It was a success right from the beginning
with over a million users only two months after it was launched. From a
handful of users, it soon became the number one photography app
gathering 100,000 users in one week, increasing to 1 million in two
months. It went on to be bought by Facebook for $1 billion in 2012
which only increased its popularity.

• Instagram Live Video is different than Instagram Video because well, it’s live.
• IGTV-Instagram TV is an app within Instagram that gives users the ability to
share videos that are up to an hour long – like a TV episode.

feature. Story content can be viewed as many times as you want within that 24-
hour period.
• Advertising tool- Marketers can Turn Existing Posts into Ads, Push Notifications.

• Deceptive users and con artists.
• Consumes too much time
• Security risks
