BNP Paribas: Brief Intro

BNP Paribas is a European leader in global


banking and financial services
One of the six strongest banks in the world (Rated AA
by Standard & Poor's i.e. 3rd rating on a scale of 22).
Present across Europe through all its business lines,
the Group has four domestic retail banking
markets in France, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Operations in 84 countries and 202,500 employees
Actively participating in CSR reporting since 2002.

BNP Paribas is a socially responsible business that


finances the real economy while helping to protect
the environment and to combat social exclusion and
discrimination.
The group's CSR performance is recognized by the
inclusion of the BNP Paribas share in the leading
Corporate Social Responsibility indices.

Equator Principle Implementation


 Constitutes a benchmark for the financial sector for the
identification, assessment, and management of social and
environmental risks related to project finance transactions.
Carbon Disclosure Project
 Evaluates the commitment of companies taking into account
climate issues in their investment decisions and reducing
greenhouse gas emissions.
 BNP Paribas is the highest-rated company in the French
financial sector and the only French bank to rank among the
Top 10 global financial institutions.
UN Global Compact Index
o Committed to living out the Compact’s 10 principles on human
rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption in
everyday business operations.

 Dow Jones sustainability indices: DJSI World and DJSI Stoxx.

Key Initiatives and Contributions

ATM machines for the visually impaired


 Developed ATM machines with vocal support for cash
withdrawals for those who are differently- abled.
 These machines, adapted for those unable to use touch screens,
are equipped with voice technology and can be identified by
their Braille stickers.
Sponsored new Chair of Human Resources
 Sponsored a new Chair of Human Resources at the Katholieke
Unversiteit Leuven for a period of three years.
 The thinking was to improve the quality of services by focusing
on employees themselves
"Putting Down Roots“
 Reflects its commitment to the community while at the same time
helping the environment.
 It donates a tree to the local municipal council for every account
opened at the new branch during the first six months of operation.

Turns to solar energy


 Opened the first bank branch equipped with solar cell panels and
the first mobile cash machine powered by solar energy in Istanbul.
 Offers "green" financial solutions, such as loans to buy hybrid cars
and to install insulation in the home.
Proactive approach to climate change
 Announced its commitment to combating climate change with three
initiatives:
- the creation of a Climate Change Steering Committee,
- signing the Climate Principles,
- raising employee awareness about the impacts of climate change.

Online training module


 Launched an online training module to raise awareness among its
employees throughout the world of the issues posed by CSR and of the
policies the Group has adopted in response.
