•Unless instructed otherwise, detached receivers away from any constraint call run
Hitches (3 big steps + 2 little & plant).
•This is the QB’s ‘gift’ – his first pre-snap scan is an Alley Assessment to see if he
has a ‘Free Access’ alley away from the Constraint call; if he does, he will throw the
Hitch off a rocker step on the snap of the ball.

with a constraint is called will be DUAL THREAT players….
•…threats to either catch the Backside Hitch if the QB decides it’s a gift
•…or to motion (“Sink”) to the backfield to potentially execute the run called
•Remind your QB as you break the huddle – “Dual threat.”
•Align in your Star or Stout position with a Wide Split (Halfway between the
numbers and the sideline), and assume that the ball is about to be snapped and
you’re going to run a HITCH (3 big steps plus 2), catch the ball, make a tight turn,
and score.
•As you’re looking in at the ball, if you see the QB wave his hand to you, “Sink” in
motion to the backfield, and execute the run called on the correct cadence
•QB: If you have a Star-Stout RB, go through your normal pre-snap assessments. If
Slot & Alley are both dirty, make sure everyone is set, WAVE at the RB, and start
your cadence

•Calls with NFL names will enlist receivers in some sort of “Fast Screen” concept
•NFL constraints involve NO CHANGE for offensive linemen!
•The QB will decide PRE-SNAP what to execute based on a “SLOT ASSESSMENT”,
the key being to HOLD HIS EYES on the Slot right up until the ball is snapped.
•The following are at a PREMIUM on NFL constraints and must be perfected
RUTHLESSLY in practice:
*Correct Splits (receivers) *Rendezvous points (receivers)
*MDM recognition (interior receivers, especially
*Finishing blocks/running the number (receivers)
*Decisive run after catch / reading blockers’ cheeks (screener)
*Quick release – velocity – ball placement (quarterback)
•An overview of our NFL constraints follows:

•MIAMI Now Screen to Middle receiver
•OAKLAND Now Screen to Outside receiver
