England education
Wales education

 In England and Wales there are four categories of schools:


 district schools, which are financed by local authorities
 voluntary schools, which are maintained by religious bodies normally
 by parents
 schools of self-government, which emerged from the Education Reform Act
of 1988
Education is compulsory

 Schooling is compulsory in england and wales from five to sixteen years of


age. If a boy dosent attend class, the local authorities Will take care of
taking the appropriate measures so that he/she receives this education.
 The eductaion law of 1998 estableshes four stages of education within
compulsory education according to age:
 From five to seve years “Infant School” or “First School”
 From seven to eleven years old “Junior School” or “Middle School”(from 8
to 12 or from 9 to 13 years old)
 From eleven to fouteen “Comprehensive School”
 From fourteen to sixteen “Sixth Form”
Scotland education
 The education in scotland begins after 3 or 4 years old in the
kindergarten, this stage is optional and it depend the on parents,
after the kindergarten begins elementary education this goes from
the first year to the seventh year
 To the 11 or 12 years old starts the high school from 4 years, students
with 15 or 16 years can decide whether to continue studying or
enter the work world or another activities
 For those who continue studying, they must present some exams
which will be rated from 1 to 7, after present the exams continue in
5 and 6 year the elementary school during these phases they
present the higher exams, which are important for the entrance to
the university
 For superior education, exist 2 types, college and university, for
college, students can obtain two types of degrees, which are HNC
(Higher National Certificate) and HND (Higher National Diploma).
 On the other hand, the university has a duration of 4 years, one year
more than in England, the universities of the United Kingdom are
among the best that exist in the world
Northern Ireland education

 The educational system in Northern Ireland


is world famous for its schools, colleges
and universities and has produced winners
of Nobel prizes, famous scientists,
playwrights, actors, government ministers,
musicians and politicians.

Education in Ireland is mandatory from six years to fifteen, but there is an
optional pre-school, pre-school, for children between 3 and 6 years of age.
The Primary, the first step of formal education, has a total duration of 6 years, so that
the child ends this stage at 12 and starts, immediately after, the Secondary.
Access to Higher Education in Ireland is only possible after passing the exam of the
Leaving Certificate or an international equivalent. Each institution decides on the
granting of places to citizens of the European Union (EU) in studies for which there is a
high degree of competence. Students whose first language is not English must present
a certificate such as the TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language).
