Settings
in
Objectives:
At the end of this
module, I can identify the
settings where counselors
are found.
Professional counselors
are trained and licensed to provide
psychological services in different
settings. They study the
characteristics of the clients their
needs, and the environment that
shapes these individuals.
These are some of the settings where professional
counselors provide services:
1.Government Settings.
They provide counseling and other
guidance services to individuals referred by
government agencies to address the clientele`s
socio-emotional needs.
Examples:
1. Department of Social Welfare and
Development (DSWD)
2. Barangay Offices
2. Private Practice.
Either part time or full time
private practice
They may practice as an
individual or in partnership with
other groups.
They may also establish their
own guidance centers or private
clinics
3. Civil Society.
Means general population or the
public.
In this settings counselors work in
parishes or churches to provide
services to various groups, such as
those with moral or spiritual issues
and concerns.
4. Schools.
Provide programs and services that
address the cognitive, social,
emotional, moral and spiritual needs of
students
Provide activities to help students
cope with their academic requirements
and challenges
Guide the students to plan their future
5. Community.
Deal with a diverse group ad number
of societal concerns ranging from the
developmental needs to crises
requiring immediate attention.

1. Drug Awareness
2. Career Information
3. Sex Education
