Down syndrome is
a genetic
condition that
occurs in the
fetus, caused
when a person is
born with an extra
chromosome;
chromosome 21.
People with down
syndrome, have
47 chromosomes
rather than 46.

Most commonly, people with Down syndrome


are found to have:
some characteristic physical features
some health and developmental challenges
some level of intellectual disability

feeling, as their language and communication skills are not
quite developed.
