if /as though you were the boss, which you are not.

More Examples
1. Shes behaving as if she were the Queen of England!
(She is not the Queen of England, but she is acting as if she is
very important)
2. They stared at me as if I were crazy.
(Im not crazy, but people looked at me like I was crazy.)
3. His older brother always treats him as if he were a child.
(He is not a child, but his brother often talks to him like a child.)
4. He boarded the airplane as if he were a seasoned traveller.
5. She walks as if she were a supermodel.
6. She sings as if she were a pop star.
Note: If you want to emphasize that something is not
true, its possible to use were instead of was. In
American English its common to use were
