    The femoral sheath surrounds the femoral vessels and lymphatics in the thigh for about 2.5 cm below the inguinal ligament. It has anterior and posterior walls and contains the femoral artery laterally, femoral vein medially, and femoral canal medially occupied by lymph vessels. The femoral triangle below the inguinal ligament contains the terminal femoral nerve and branches, femoral sheath, femoral artery/vein, and deep inguinal lymph nodes. Femoral hernia is a protrusion through the femoral canal causing a swelling in the upper thigh.
