The Pitch

Deception

Deception
Our film is called Deception. Its about a young girl
that meets a man online and falls in love with him.
He lies about his true identity, deceiving the poor
nave girl. They finally meet and her life is put into
great danger. We chose the name Deception
because the girl is deceived by the man she meets
as he isnt honest about who he is.
In the opening sequence the first scene we see is
the family standing by her grave and a zoom in to
the grave. It will then show a flashback of when she
was alive and the whole film will show how she met
the person online and the lead up to her death.

Type of title sequence

The type of title sequence we have
decided to do is moving image. It will be
narrative.
We were influenced by other students
titles and a few of them inspired us to
come with our initial ideas for our title
sequence.

Representation
In the opening scene we will introduce the
main character, Sarah. She is adopted,
very popular at school. However she feels
lonely so she turns to social networking
sites to make friends. We will introduce
her adopted parents and her best friend.
Social groups introduced are popular
groups, outcasts and elderly people
(parents). All the social groups are showed
stereotypically.

Institutional detail
Our film will be an independent
production as it is being produced by an
independent company. It will be
produced by Rooks Nest Entertainment
and distributed by Wild horse film
company. Ownership could affect what
our titles display to fit our core and wider
audiences it can also hinder the quality of
our titles by budget.

Audience detail

Our target audience is young adults ranging

from 14-21 and our wider audience are other
people ranging from 21-25. We will attract
our audience by using free marketing
schemes such as social media, uploading our
and word of mouth this because we are
owned by an independent company so we
are limited to the amount of money that can
be used on marketing. To address them we
will use current social media sites and trends
to link them.

Mise-en-scene location and

setting

For the first scenes we will be using a

grave yard which is located in Stoke
Newington Borough of Hackney. The
grave yard is called Abney park
cemetery
For the flash back scene a bedroom
and the scene after that a kitchen and
stairs
Public place(shopping city)

Mise-en-scene- props,
costumes, makeup etc
Props: laptop or device where we can visit sites
on, grave stone from grave yard and knife or
weapon the main character is killed by.
Costumes: One of our characters is a teenage girl
who will be dressed simple, mostly jeans and a
top. She will mostly wear dull colours to show the
season as it is winterand skinny jeans to show
she isyoung.
Another one of our characters is the person who
meets the girl online. He puts up fake pictures
and lies about his age, but when she meets him
his face isn't revealed. He will wear black clothing
and hoodies to show danger and mystery.

Sound design

Diegetic sound used: footsteps, doors

opening and closing, kettle
Non-diegetic sound used: Foley and a
dark intense soundtrack

Titles credits

There will be dark fonts and lighting in

shots 1-18 to fit the themes and to
make it creepy and mysterious and in
the flash back itll be brighter to reflect
her innocence
We plan to create it on motion.

Cinematic details-full
storyboard or animatic

There are a few shots such as P.O.V, over

shoulder we use close up and mid shots a lot.
Different angles for instances in
scenes(39,42,43)well have a side shot to
create mystery.
We thought to have titles appear on
gravestones as it links to our theme
In shot 1 well have production, shot 2
distribution, shot 3 editing, shot 4 main female
character, shot 5 main male character shot 6
other characters and shot 7 extra cast.

Production schedule

This is a rough schedule and is subject

to change.
From Saturday(24) we will be filming
our cemetery scene. Then on

away from sinks or any wet place in the
kitchen
Damaging equipment during journeysensuring all equipment is handled well and
taken care of on journeys
Tripping over while handling a camera-make
sure our surroundings are safe and clear
Rainy weather carry umbrellas to prevent
cameras getting wet and interfering with shot

Technology skills audit

Technology use: garage band to create

a sound track, motion to create our
rough titles, Mac computers for editing.
It has allowed us to bring our title
sequence to life.
