Rabies is entirely preventable through vaccination. Rabies kills at least 55,000 people annually, or one person every 10 minutes. Rabies impacts animal health and welfare. Sustained elimination of dog-to-dog transmission of rabies has been demonstrated over large geographic areas. The methodical use of proven techniques can lead to global elimination of the major source of human rabies.
