BACKGROUND
Mr. Daniel Mckorley, an entrepreneur, he was born into a modest family on 16 June 1971. He is the 7th of nine siblings . He is an indigent of LA a suburb of Greater Accra. His father was a farmer and the mother was a fishmonger. Even though they were unlettered and poor they managed to send him and his siblings to school.
BACKGROUND
At age ten ,He started helping his mother to sell fish at the market. Some of the proceeds was used in paying his fees and to cater for the family.
Educational background
He started his elementary education at the la wireless primary school and later proceeded to St. Thomas Aquinas secondary school and moved to the Institute of professional studies (IPS), he further went to Lehigh University in Pennsylvania to study logistics which was his main interest. and later Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Administration (GIMPA).

He told us at the beginning of the interview about the background of his company. Mcdan shipping company limited started as a single custom broker in 1999, clearing at the port. The company is registered under the Ghana company registration Act 1962. It was such a difficult beginning because he started off without an office then. After some time he has to sell his car to rent himself an office. He told us that to be entrepreneur means a lot of sacrifices. That is why he gave up his comfort to struggle to join public transportation. All of this was to succeed in his business.

McDan shipping company is a privately owned Ghanaian company established under the companies code of 1963(ACT179). The company is the first and only Freight Forwarding Company to obtain the Air Carrier License in handling chartered cargo flights in Ghana and currently has the GSA for Global Aviation in West Africa.

Mcdan Shipping Company limited is the name of the industry. It is a solely owned to him (Mr. Daniel Mckorley) CEO of the company, as the name suggests (MCDAN) it was coined from Daniel and Mckorley. It was set up in 1999 as a single custom broker. It has grown from a one room office to a big company. It started with just 4 staff, but it can now boast of over 100 staff across the country. It has branche offices located at all the various ports in Ghana i.e. Tema and Takoradi. It also connects to other parts of the world through 2000 ports worldwide especially project cargo. Some of its biggest clients the company deals with are United Nations imports to West Africa. World food program and all the telecom companies in Ghana like Vodafone, MTN, and Tigo etc.It provides logistics to almost every corner of Ghana, west africa and beyond.

He has a huge desire for continuous progress, improvement and a possible perfection, which keeps him getting better as an entrepreneur and an accomplished business man. Skills, special abilities, and interests
PERSEVERANCE He persevered in all that trying times. Instead of being heartbroken by the harsh realities of life and giving up as many would do, Daniel had a dream; lived that dream and now is a global major air and sea ports worldwide due to its partnership with Universal Freight Organization, LINK and WCA. He never consigned himself to the privations that characterized his childhood and youth
Personal traits
His philosophy is that poverty is a blessing in disguise. It toughened him up and he considers it a stage every man must experience even if for a short while. He is business minded ;Daniel Mckorley never missed any opportunity to make profits. At a point he purchased maize in Techiman and stored it in a silo somewhere and later sold it to the market when maize was scarce.

His deep sense of responsibility, coupled with his visionary leadership, has earned him an enviable position in corporate Ghana. His commitment to duty particularly stands out in his efforts to help create economic opportunities for the youth across the nation and beyond.

determination. He is one person who discovered his career early enough. One thing that was also unique about Daniel Mckorley was that he did not condoned to cheating and laziness . He was determined to make it big in his chosen field. This included waking up at midnight to go and check on his cargo when flights arrived at the airport. This meant forgoing sleep and being with his family.
ACHIEVEMENTS
2005: They won best transport award in West Africa 2009: McDan shipping won the best trade name in West Africa millennium award 2010 /2011: Best freight forwarding company 2011: McDan shipping came out 29th position in the Ghana Club 100
Social responsibilities
As a way of giving back to society he has built a library in the la community to help children in the community read. He has also build an office block for police in legon to help in their daily duties. Every year he takes his staff to clean up the mental hospital and also get them a new kitchen. He also pays school fees for over 60 students in La. These are but a few he mentioned to us.
conclusion
After the interview with him we deduced that no matter where you are born, with determination, honesty , commitment and hard work you will always succeed .
