- Bill of materials
- Routing.
- Work Centres.
Transaction data:
As of the cut off date, ideally there should not be any work in process. All the open
production orders should be closed and semi finished goods should be dismantled
and should be added to Raw materials. This strategy should be followed for all
production orders where lead time to complete the production order is not large.
Since, the production orders are for longer duration and it is not possible to
dismantle the product and add it to inventory, following can be the strategy for
migrating the data to SAP:
- Create a material master for the work in process and set the standard price as the
cost incurred for that product (ie. Work in process)
- Create a bill of material (which will be used only for this production order)
including this material and other materials still to be consumed.
- Create Routing for rest of the production process.
- Bring the work in process material into inventory as of the cut off date.
- Create the production orders in SAP for the Work in process and issue materials
to production order.
Complete the production process after the cut off date of the project.
What happens to planned after it has been converted into production order?
When you convert Planned order to Production order. the planned order are offset
by production order. Reference of planned order can be seen in the production
order.
Report in Long Term Planning - You use long term planning for your
customers, what they need are very simple, just to calculate future
requirements for 1 or 2 years.
Are there any reports in SAP to list of material requirement from LTP?
You need a list of material requirement from long term planning result for
each item.
Scheduling planned order - How can you get planned orders scheduled so
that you can do capacity leveling?
MD11 and then Schedule works fine but ideally you would want the the
planned order scheduled automatically on creation? You have tried setting up
an action to schedule the orders but cannot get that to work either.
When running MRP, try selecting "2" in the scheduling box this will bring planned
orders into CM01 and CM21
Capacity planning CM01 - When you run capacity planning T-code: CM01,
you found the plan orders are not included in the pegged requirement, you
checked the profile, the check box for order and plan order are all actived.
Guess that planned orders have been created without capacity requirement
indicator in MRP ("2" - Lead Time scheduling), if this is the case, then when
converted to process orders they will have impact on the Resource. If you want to
see them as planned orders, re-run the MRP or change in every planned order,
going to the Menu: Edit --> Scheduling
Another couple of possibilities are to do with the routing/work centres used and
whether it isactually calculates consumption of capacity of the category at the work
centre being displayed in CM01 (it might consume a capacity pool or it might not
consume the category).
MPS in Backgound/Online - You want to run MPS for a plant either online or
in the background, but you do not get any results. If you run MPS for a single
material/plant, then everything is 100% OK.
You need to run a planning file and a consistency check first, transaction OMDO
and MDRE respectively you'll need to set up two jobs to do it but it is straight
forward, once you've done this set up the background job for MPS to run and do it
in NEUPL first time round and then change to NETCH after that.
From MPS run you plan the materials which are of 'A' type in the abc analysis
(80% dollar value) that have to be planned before hand.
MPS is also a type of MRP only in which components just below the materials on
which MPS run is taken place, are planned.
Table for production order status - What is the table for finding status (for Ex
TECO ed prodn orders). We are not able to find from AFKO and AFRU
tables the status of production orders or at least the link tables if known can
be mentionned. You are unable to link the structure caufvd and IOHEADER
WITH AFKO and AFRU.
Data dictonary table for SOP planning data - You are using Standard SOP
(Info structure S076), in which table can you see the planning values that you
maintained in MC93 transaction?
You looked under table "S076" and did not see any values there.
Use T.Code MC95 to display your entries under the version which maintained the
the table S076.
Delete the members in the product group and then archive the product group in
transaction SARA, object=MM_MATNR.
(The product group is created as a material master record with material type PROD
and this record is deleted in SARA.)

can be used to represent a regional, national, or international subdivision of a
marketplace in which products are sold.
The ________ is the organizational element that manages your shipping activities.
Each outbound delivery is processed at a __________.
Shipping points are assigned to plants. A shipping point should have physical
proximity to the plant to which it is assigned. More than one shipping point can be
assigned to a plant. Several plants can also have a shared shipping point assigned to
them, for example, several plants in same physical proximity sharing the same
railroad depot. True False.
Bills of material can exist at the plant and/or client level. True False.
A __________ is a location that defines when and where production resources are
required according to order requirements.
A ______ defines operations and the sequence in which they are carried out. The
following is also defined in the ______: • Where the work is to be done • How long
the work should take • What materials are needed for each operation • What tools
and fixtures are required.
The planned time for each operation is stored in the routing as a _______.
MRP areas are defined as part of MRP configuration. There are three types of MRP
areas: plant storage location Vendor (subcontractor). Client Company code.
Organizational Levels of the Material Master Client Company code Plant Storage
Location Purchasing organization Sales organization Controlling area.
The person who creates the first view of each material master record must define:
The material number The industry sector The material type The unit of measure The
description Plant Storage Location Initial Stock.
The ________ determines which data fields and screens are available for input
during material master maintenance. Industry sector is one of several influencing
factors. In the configuration of the material master, industry sector can act as one
key in specifying whether a field is required, changeable, display only, or hidden. In
addition, ________ is used in configuration to determine what views and what
sequence a user can display the material master.
Material numbering is defined at the _____ level. Client Company Code Plant
Storage Location.
All units of measure in the SAP system that are additional to the base unit of
measure are grouped together under the title “alternative units of measure.” The
following alternative units of measure are supported: Base unit of measure (Basic
Data 1): Order unit (Purchasing): Sales unit (Sales: sales org 1): Production unit
(Work Scheduling): Unit of issue (Work Scheduling/Whse Mgmt 1):.
A ______ can contain one or more characteristics. Within the _____, companies can
further restrict the characteristic values. A _____ will then be attached to the
material master to specify the custom fields that were needed.
The ________ allows you to control where a material can be used in business
applications. You define the __________ in the material master record in
accordance with the material, client, and plant. You can limit the use of a material in
different ways: • You can flag the material for deletion • You can use the ______ to
lock the material for certain business processes in materials management and
production planning,.
The classification system, all classes, characteristics, and characteristic values are
predefined by SAP and delivered with the system and cannot be changed by users.
True False.
Only material master records can be classified using the classification system. True
False.
Variant configuration uses classification to select specific items on the bill of material
and the corresponding operation on the routing for products that have many
different options. True False.
BOM categories define the connection to an object. Material BOMs Order BOMs
Equipment BOMs Functional location BOMs.
When creating BOMs with different usages for one material, the system saves each
BOM with the same internal number. True False.
The BOM status controls BOM processing in different application areas. True False.
When you create a BOM, a low-level code is automatically assigned to each material
which is used in MRP and costing. Low-level codes are used in material requirements
planning (MRP) to determine the sequence in which materials are planned and by
product costing to determine how costs are rolled up. True False.
To define the precise conditions under which a material must be used by different
areas in a company, you define an area of validity and a validity period. True False.
A group BOM is a BOM without reference to any one plant. True False.
Which BOM item's categories are defined in sap ecc system? Stock Items Non-Stock
Items Document Items Variable-size item Text Item Document Item Class Item PM
Structure element Intra Material Assembly.
You can add a non-stock item to a BOM, only if it has a material master record True
False.
You can create where-used lists for: Work centers Capacities Production
resources/tools Reference operation sets Materials Movement type Item Category.
All of the components are stored in a multilevel bill of material for the finished goods.
True False.
A material BOM is the only BOM category that can be created in the SAP ECC system.
True False.
A material BOM can have many different usages for specific departments within a
company. True False.
Each material BOM is material and plant unique and each material plant combination
BOM has a separate internal number assigned to it. True False.
At minimum a basic data view of a material master record must exist before you can
create a BOM for that material. True False.
The base unit of measure defaults into the BOM item but can be overridden with the
issue unit of measure from the work scheduling view if it is populated. True False.
Each time a BOM is saved the system calculates the low level code which is used for
planning. True False.
Which report would you use to determine which BOMs will be affected by a
component change? A BOM comparison B Level by level BOM explosion C Multilevel
BOM explosion D Material where-used list.
Which report would you use to see an overview of all the necessary parts and
materials? A BOM comparison B Level by level BOM explosion C Multilevel BOM
explosion D Material where-used list.
Which report would you use to see the differences between two BOMs with different
change statuses? A BOM comparison B Level by level BOM explosion C Multilevel
BOM explosion D Material where-used list.
Capacities can be entered and changed in work centers, but can also be maintained
independently. The system distinguishes between: Work center capacities Pooled
capacities Reference capacities Default capacities.
The system uses the ________ to determine move times only if you have not
entered any move times in the Interoperation times section of the Operation detail
screen.
The move time can be maintained separately. You can maintain a minimum move
time and a normal move time in the Interoperation times section of the Operation
detail screen. If reduction measures are necessary, the system uses the minimum
move time for scheduling. True False.
You can maintain the queue time in the work center and in the routing operation.
However, the system uses the queue time from the work center for scheduling only
if you have not maintained a queue time in the operation. You cannot reduce this
time. True False.
By creating reference capacities, users can maintain one set of capacities that
applies to several work centers independently by linking the capacity data to each
relevant work center. When it is necessary to update the capacity, the planner only
needs to maintain the reference resource. The information is relevant for all
resources that have been linked by the reference function. Once the work center
capacity category has been referenced, it can no longer be maintained. The capacity
data can only be maintained by editing the reference capacity header. True Flase.
For operation costing, it is necessary to assign the work center to a cost center.
Additionally, activity types with cost unit rates are required because multiple work
centers can belong to one cost center. True False.
