why we have 2s for m/e and 4s for aux engine?


Cadet KarTik PorWal Because we need high speed( ~1500 rpm ) for generating 60 hz
electric supply voltage (f=PN/120) while for propulsion we need high torque for
overcoming the water resistance to propeller and hull. If we hv to use 4 stroke engine
for m/e then we will need reduction gears as rotating the propeller at high speed will
cause churning effect due to which propeller will not be able to throw more water and
hence thrust will reduce

@Sakthi vel: TAPPET CLEARENCE PROCEDURE: I will tell u simply...before starting


tappet clearence safety things u should see..like posting notices ,closing the air starting
v/v,opening the indicating cock(must)..after compliance with safety..open the cylinder
head covers of the generator.start cranking the flywheel with cranking rod..The
markings and angles will be marked in the flywheel..if no marking also no problem..in
case of marking move the flywheel to TDC of a particular cylinder for eg.1,6 if it's
marked like this,no:1 or 6th cylinder is in firing order.i.e means both inlet and exhaust
v/vs are closed.this u can identify through the push rod..rotate the push rod of both
units.if both are rotating freely..then that unit is the one ready for tappet clearance.so
now u can procede for tappet by opening the rocker arm nut and adjust according to the
manufacturer clearence with feeler gauge..before start tightening...check the valve
springs by hammering(rubber hammer)..clean the tappet..then do other work...again
rotate the flywheel..follow same procedure,,that's it..if u understood easy..

You may feel like you’re the only one in the world who's going through a tough time,
unsatisfied, struggling, or barely getting by. That's normal.

In my opinion, the strongest people in this world are the ones that have that unique courage to
be themselves, no matter how difficult that may be; No matter what anyone says; no matter
how many laughs or insults are thrown at them. They continue to be themselves even when
they are absolutely alone. They don't change to get anyone to like them, or get validation from
others. They smile because they are happy and content with themselves and they are validated
by their unique place they hold in this world.

The key is to work hard and then work harder, because someone else out there wants what you
have, and they will work harder than you to take it. Someone else out there has to try to
emulate your uniqueness, while you may feel it is a disadvantage, and they will work hard to be
everything you already are. Do not take yourself for granted.

Remember there are several paths to success; we are all given multiple opportunities to
achieve our potential throughout our lives. Some of us get there quicker than others, but one
thing is certain: NO ONE gets there without first setting a goal and taking action. Tomorrow
starts a new day. If you’re not prepared mentally for tomorrow and the days ahead, your body
will not follow and your life will certainly not follow.

Take a moment tonight to reflect on where you are and where you want to be by tomorrow
and the beginning of next week, and then make a move.
