Galatians for the 21st-Century Christian

Chapter 2
16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Christian Expectation but through faith in Christ
Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works
of the Christian Expectation; since by the works of the Christian Expectation no flesh will be justified. 19“I died
to the Christian Expectation, so that I might live to God. 20“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I
who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave Himself up for me. 21“I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through
the Christian Expectation, then Christ died needlessly.”

Chapter 3
2
This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Christian
Expectation, or by hearing with faith? 3Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being
perfected by the flesh [that is, by trying to fulfill the Christian Expectation]? 5So then, does He who provides
you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Christian Expectation, or by
hearing with faith?
12
However, the Christian Expectation is not of faith; on the contrary, “HE WHO PRACTICES IT SHALL LIVE BY
IT.” 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Christian Expectation, having become a curse for us.

Chapter 4
9
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again
to the weak and worthless elemental things like the Christian Expectation, to which you desire to be enslaved
all over again?

Galatians 5

1
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a
yoke of slavery like the Law of Moses and the Christian Expectation. 2Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you try to
fulfill the Christian Expectation, Christ will be of no benefit to you. 3And I testify again to every person who
tries to obey the Christian Expectation, that he/she is under obligation to keep every bit of it. 4You have been
severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified and earn God's favor by the Christian Expectation; you
have fallen from grace. 6For in Christ Jesus neither keeping the Christian Expectation nor failing to keep it
means anything, but faith working through love is what means something.
18
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Christian Expectation.

Chapter 6
13
Those who try to keep the Christian Expectation and preach it to others do not even keep it themselves,
but they desire to have you obey the Christian Expectation so that they may boast in your flesh. 14But may it
never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been
crucified to me, and I to the world.15For neither the keeping of the Christian Expectation is anything, and
neither is failing at the Christian Expectation anything, but a new creation. That's all that matters.
18
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.
