D The AEL (accessible emission level )of the laser power output is less than CLASS 1
but the laser component is capable of emitting radiation exceeding the limit for
CLASS 1.
A specially instructed person should do servicing operation of the apparatus.
Transistors Q17 and Q19 in PCB drive the laser diodes for DVD and CDrespectively.
When Q17 and Q19 is shorted between their terminals,the laser diodes for DVD or CD will
radiate beam. If the top cover is removedwith no disc loaded while such short-circuit is continued,
the naked eyes maybe exposed to the laser beam.

1. SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
1.1 SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
A
You should conform to the regulations governing the product (safety, radio and noise, and other regulations), and
should keep the safety during servicing by following the safety instructions described in this manual.
Please keep the distance of more than 13 cm from focus lens for safety when you check pickup and make adjustment,
and do not look straight at Laser Beam for more than 10 seconds.
Please be sure to conduct line process to original status if you make assembling after repair.
Before disassembling the unit, be sure to turn off the power. Unplugging and plugging the connectors during power-on
mode may damage the ICs inside the unit.
Be careful in handling ICs. Some ICs such as MOS type are so fragile that they can be damaged by electrostatic
induction.
How to make DEMO MODE to be OFF (There are two ways, (1) and (2))
D
(1) Turn ACC from OFF to ON. This makes DEMO setting to be OFF.
(2) Temporarily release DEMO MODE (by pressing [SRC] or [ESC] Key) and change setting of DEMO in GENERAL
from setting menu by changing ON to OFF.
1.4 OTHERS
Notes on soldering
For environmental protection, lead-free solder is used on the printed circuit boards mounted in this unit.
Be sure to use lead-free solder and a soldering iron that can meet specifications for use with lead-free solders for
repairs accompanied by reworking of soldering.

Any component parts in the DVD Mechanism Unit of this model can not be supplied.
F If you need to replace any parts in the DVD Mechanism Unit, replace whole of DVD Mechanism Unit.

A The MPEG firmware named "mcurom.bin " is written in a USB device.
When you write in the USB device, please do not prepare a folder but write in directly under the device.
A common file name is used by all the models.
In a file name, it cannot judge in the firmware for which products.
Please be careful.
Step 2 Please turn on a product and connect to a product the USB device prepared by "Step1."
The following display appears and upgrade of firmware starts.
