Banks in Växjö and Kalmar
To start with, it may not be easy for you to open a bank account in Sweden.
Unfortunately, there is much bureaucracy involved. Furthermore, I can’t advise
you to use one or the other bank, but I can give you information about what
banks there are in Växjö. You should go to different banks and try to open an
account.
Why do you need a Swedish bank account?
It can be a good idea to have a Swedish bank account due to practical matters. It
makes it easier for you to keep an eye on your money, and you will know how much
Swedish money you have. If you use a Swedish internet-banking service, everyday
life will be a lot easier when it comes to paying the bills. It is for sure a lot easier than
using your home account abroad, and you don’t need to pay extra fees for
transferring money etc. If you are not able to open a Swedish bank account or use an
internet-banking service, you still need a system of paying your bills. If you go to a
bank they will charge you 50-80 SEK for paying your bills. You can also pay your bills
at FOREX (www.forex.se) which will cost you 25 SEK/bill.
If you have a Swedish bank account you can also subscribe to an autogiro-service
to pay your bills. With this system, for each bill the money will be debited
automatically from your account and you don’t have to pay any extra fees for that.
However, with this system it is important that you always have enough money on
your account to cover the amount of the bills.
Below you will find a couple of Swedish banks with offices in Kalmar and in Växjö.
For some, we have added a bit more detailed information about the services these
banks offer. Please note that this information is always subject to change and might
no longer be completely correct.
