Q1. Attempt any five of the following sub – questions: (5)


i. Find the next four terms of the sequences: 2, 5, 8, 11 …
ii. Write the quadratic equation 7 – 4x – x2 = 0 in standard form ax2 + bx + c = 0.
iii. If 12x + 13y = 29 and 13x + 12 y = 21, find x + y.
iv. Two coins are tossed simultaneously. Write the sample space ‘S’ and the number of sample
points n(s).
v. If one root of the quadratic equation x2 – 7x + k = 0 is 4, then find the value of k.
vi. Find tn of the A.P. : 3, 6 , 9, .......

Q2. Attempt any four of the following sub – questions: (8)


i. Find the first four terms of the sequence, whose nth term is tn = n2 – 2n
ii. Solve x2 – 17 x + 60 = 0 by factorisation method.
iii. Find Dx and Dy of the given simultaneous equations. 3x – 2y = 3 and 2x + y = 16.
iv. Form two digit number using the digits 0, 1, 2, 3 without repeating the digits. Write sample
space ‘S’, n(S), event P and n(P) where P is the event that the number so formed is divisible by 3.
v. A die is thrown, find the probability of the events

a. Getting a number less than 3, b. Getting a prime number.


vi. State whether the given equation is quadratic or not: y + 1/y = 3.

Q3. Attempt any three of the following sub – questions. (9)


i. How many three digit natural number are divisible by 4?
ii. Determine the nature of the roots of the equation 2 y2 + 5y – 3 = 0 from its discriminanats.
iii. Solve the following simultaneous equations using graphical method.

x + 2 y = 5; y = -2 x – 2.
iv. Forty persons were examined for their Haemoglobin % in blood (in mg per 100 ml) and the
results were grouped as below: Find Mode.
