PreGraduation Experience
Junior Oracle DBA (Internship) (ZAIN) JUL 2007 ‐ AUG 2007
IP Multimedia Subsystem Research Project (Ericsson) SEP 2007 – JUL 2008
9 Under supervision from a Senior DBA on the department, I’ve Installed an Oracle10g database
on a Sun Sparc Server along with configuring g the underlying UNIX kernel parameters to
accommodate Oracle memory structures.
9 Due to the exposure that occurred within the telecommunication provider, I’ve explored and
investigated the software methodologies of designing and implementing Value Added Services
(VAS) for subscribers in order to increase market share and enforce customer loyalty.
9 The research evolved to what would be my final year graduation group project which tackled the
IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). In associating with Ericsson Sudan I was able to develop and
test two multimedia services for the mobile domain which are Push to Talk (PTT) and Instant
Messaging (IM). I also documented the project along with business and market potential case
studies for the new telecommunication standard. The research was technical but customer
oriented that claimed if quality services could be provided then the customer will generate more
revenue for the organization.
9 Incremental development model was used for the two services in order to add more functionality
for the prototypes.
