OBJECTIVE- PRINTING OF COTTON FABRIC WITH PIGMENT COLORS.

DESCRIPTION- In pigment printing, insoluble pigments, which have no affinity for the fibre,
are fixed on to the textile with binding agents in the required pattern. It is the cheapest and
simplest printing method. After drying and fixation which usually requires exposure to hot air at
temp. above 140 c for a short period. water in oil or oil- in water special type emulsion
thickener is used for pigment printing.

STYLE OF PRINTING: Direct

METHOD OF PRINTING: Screen Printing

RECIPE- (Stock thickener)


1. Acramin Binder SLN- 120 parts
2. Emulsifier- 10 parts
3. Urea- 50 parts
4. Diammonium phosphate- 30 parts
5. Water- 60 parts
6. Kerosene or M.T.O.- 730 parts (Mixed under high speed stirring )
7. Total- 1000 parts

PRINTING RECIPE-

1. Acramine pigment colour- Up to 5 parts


2. Stock thickener- 94 parts
3. Fixer C.C.L.- 1 part
4. Total- 100 parts

PREPARATION- (Stock thickener)


Mix the Binder SLN, Emulsifier N & water in a container, Keep the container under a high speed
stirrer, Slowly add kerosene till a white viscous paste is obtained. Finally add predissolved Urea
& Diammonium phosphate.

PROCEDURE
After printing, the fabric is dried at 90-100 o C till free from kerosene & then cured in a curing
chamber at 140 oC to 150 oC for 5 to 4 minutes.
