Concept Statement
The design of Fayettevilles Community Education Center will be charming, functional and inviting to provide an environment that can be enjoyed by
residents and visitors. New meets old in the design of the Education Center. Contemporary finishes and furnishings will be paired with vintage historic
elements that feature the towns history. The towns historic main street will be the inspiration for the color scheme of the Education Center.
Off-white and brick red will be paired with shades of green and blue to reflect the colors seen on building faades along the main street. Environmen-
tally conscious materials, universal design practices, as well as ergonomic office furniture will ensure a comfortable and safe environment for visitors
and employees. Together, these design solutions will create a space that is welcoming, functional and that highlights the communitys rich history.

Design Justification
The design of the Fayetteville Community Education Center centers around the Main Street area of
the town. Colors of brick red, blue, green and soft neutrals mimic the colors seen on the buildings
facades on Main Street. Upon entering the Community Center, visitors are greeted with an ADA
compliant information desk. The brick veneer used on the wall behind the information desk draws
people to the area. The childrens area of the community center is an area filled with bright colors
and playful furnishings. The Multi-Purpose Room will have ample seating and tables to perform a
variety of functions. The tables will be moveable to meet visitors needs. The adjacent Break Room
will have a small kitchen and seating. The first floor will also have one ADA compliant restroom with
a changing table. Upstairs is home to the satellite branch of the Lincoln County Library. Upon enter-
ing the second floor, visitors will be welcomed with an ADA compliant reception/check out desk. The
library will have 1200 linear feet of book shelves. There will be several seating areas for people to
relax and read in the library. There will be a bank of twelve computer research terminals for visitors
to use on the second floor. The same brick veneer will be used on feature walls on the second floor
to make the design flow. A study area will be located away from the library for those who want to
study in larger groups. A small conference room is also located on the second floor and can acco-
modate 8-10 people. The librarian will also have a private office with ample storage and seating for
two guests. A work room and storage area is located close to the librarians office and small confer-
ence room. An additional ADA compliant restroom with changing table will be located on the second
floor.
