Film Review
AudienceFor the notebook I think that the target audience is for teens
and adults (13+), and is stereotypically for girls.
AppealIt appeals the target audience with soft subtle music and
scenery of the area of where the film is based. This helps tell
me that the film is for this target audience as it doesnt have
childish features and appears very grown up with the men in
the boats. Something like this probably wouldnt appeal
younger children as within minutes theyd probably be bored as
theres nothing to spark their imagination.
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes there are the names of the actors
popping up one after another with the different still shots of the
area the film is based in. the different still shots show water
and trees with people in boats.
Camera workThere is a form cut shot which follows a man in a boat in the
lake. There are also many still shots which show the
surroundings.
Mise en sceneIn part of the film
in one of the
scenes you can
see a house with
a woman stood in
the window with
the hills and trees
with birds flying
across.
Goodfellas Crime
AudienceI think that for this film the age range would be 18-40 for both
male and female, because of the violent content that comes
almost instantly in the opening of the film.
AppealI think it appeals to that audience because of its violent content
when the man in the back of the car gets stabbed then shot.
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes you see a group of three men, therefore
you are instantly introduced to the main characters, and they
are driving down a road and then park up. They have a person
in the boot of their car. The three men stab him and shoot him.
Camera WorkIn the first two minutes there are wide shots on the car, and
right at the end there is a freeze frame of the main character.
Mise en SceneIn this scene you
can see three
people sat in a
car driving
somewhere. They
have their suits
on with their hair
neatly done.
SoundIn the first two minutes there is both diegetic and non-diegetic.
Theres diegetic sound coming from the car and them talking.
Then theres non-diegetic right at the end of the two minutes
when theres monologue as hes saying things but his mouth
isnt moving.
Editing-
I think the age range is 14-30, for both male and female, as in
the opening two minutes they were talking about topics such as
university.
AppealThis appeal to the audience as throughout the opening two
minutes there was just dialog and a younger audience wouldnt
find it interesting.
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes you are introduced to the main
characters. The two characters are just talking about university.
Camera WorkThere are shots such as shot reverse shot; the two shot were
there are two people focused in the shot. Theres also over the
shoulder shots, and a few close up shots.
Mise en SceneIn the scene you
can see two people
sat at a table
talking with
people in the
background. Their
makeup is very simple
and they have beers
with them.
SoundIn the opening two minutes there is diegetic sound coming from
the two people talking and the people around them as well as
non-diegetic music in the background.
EditingThere are no special editing techniques used in the opening two
minutes the scenes just are quick jumps into the next shot.
AppealI think that because of the content of the film this would appeal
to the audience.
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes there are the names of the actors that
pop up on the screen and a bomb planted onto a car and then a
couple getting into the car and driving around.
Camera WorkThere are extreme close ups on the bomb, as well as wide
camera shots. The entire two minutes are done on a single
camera roll so it just flows straight through.
Mise en SceneIn the scene you
can see a couple
in their car driving
down the streets
with people
walking down the
paths.
SoundThere is non-diegetic sound from the music and its parallel to
the scene.
Editing-

SoundThere is diegetic sound from the music player and dialog from
the people talking in it.

February Thriller
AudienceI think that the age range is 15-40, for both male and female
due the creepy music and the car crash content.
Appeal-
Mama Horror
AudienceI think that this film is for teens and adults (14-40), both male
and female. I think this because of the content in the film such
as the creepy radio story on at the start thats playing in the
car.
Appeal-
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes theres are different scenes of people
doing everyday things, such as driving their car and kids
playing outside. As well as a scene where theres a quote thats
related to the film. Two possibilities exist: either we are alone
in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.
Arthur C. Clarke
Camera WorkIn the first two minutes there are many different camera shots.
The tracking shot on the woman and the girl in the push chair.
As well as a close up on the sale sign. There are many wide
shots showing more of the area where the film is taking place. 2
shots are also included where there are two people in the shot.
There are also medium shots on the roads and the man with
the leaf blower and a car.
Mise en SceneIn one
Poltergeist Horror
AudienceI think the target audience for this film is around 14-40, both
male and female. I think this because of the content right at the
start being violent.
AppealI think it appeals to the target audience because of the
language used in it and the topic of the family moving house
and talking about what its going to be like.
Whats included in the first two minutes?-
SoundIn the first two minutes there is only diegetic sound coming
from the video game and the dialog of the people in the car
talking. As well as the sound of the car.
EditingThere is only a special edit right at the start with the pixels of
the game.
Insidious Horror
AudienceI think the age range for this film is 15-35, both male and
female as the content is not appropriate for young viewers and
old people as they do not enjoy scary films as such.
AppealI think this film appeals for this target audience because right
from the start it has creepy scenes that set you on edge.
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes the first things you see is an upside
down view of the lamp hanging from the ceiling. It does an 180 o
turn around the lamp to show us a boy lay in bed. It then trails
off down a corridor as leads us to what appears to be someone
holding a candle.
Camera Work-
In the first two minutes there is a wide shot used to show the
bed room the boy is sleeping in. a close up of a creepy woman
holding a candle and an establishing shot right at the end of
the two minutes.
Mise en SceneIn this scene you can see a boy lay in bed in his pyjamas. There
is a bedroom table with a lamp and other pieces. The bed
covers are
childish proving that its a childs
bedroom.
SoundThe
parallel to whats in the scene.
Detention Horror
AudienceI think that the age range for this film is 15-20, both females
and males. I think this because of the language and way the
actor comes across.
AppealI think it appeals to this target audience because the character
herself is in her late teens and therefore the things she talks
about at the start, the audience can relate to.
Whats included in the first two minutes? In the first two minutes you have the title page come up on the
screen. As well as a girl lay in bed talking about the problems
and solutions she has to face, and sets them as kind of rules.
Camera WorkIn the first two minutes there is a crane shot above the girl in
her bed. There is also an over the shoulder shot when she is
looking at herself in the mirror. An extreme close up of her nose
piercing. As well as a high angle shot looking down on her when
she is taking a selfie.
Mise en SceneIn the scene you can see a girl lay on her bed with her hair
neatly placed around her face with simplistic makeup on.
