Installing Practice-in-the-Cloud
Instructions for Windows computers
Check Your System Requirements

Required Hardware:
Processor: Intel or AMD processor @ 1.3 GHz or greater.
Hard drive: 3 GB free
RAM: Minimum 1 GB
Required Operating Systems:
Windows XP
Home or Pro Edition
32-bit with Service Pack 3
Vista
Home, Enterprise, Pro or Ultimate edition
32-bit with Service pack 1 or Service Pack 2
Windows 7
Home, Enterprise, Pro or Ultimate edition
32-bit with no service pack or Service Pack 1
Windows 8/8.1
Pro or Enterprise Edition
32 or 64-bit Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 Update
There are three specific actions required to install and access Practice
in the Cloud via a virtual computer. They are:
1. Verify your system configuration (3 steps, page 2).
2. Download and install VMware, the BlockWorks Practice-in-theCloud environment, on your home Windows-based computer (16
steps, pages 3 5).
3. Access BlockWorks in the Cloud (6 steps, pages 6 and 7).
Important information regarding properly exiting the virtual
computer can be found on page 7. Properly logging off the virtual
computer can prevent problems in the future.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Most issues accessing either the virtual computer or
BlockWorks can be resolved by:

All associates in Active or Seasonally Deactivated
status have access to BlockWorks Practice-in-theCloud.
Future issues can be prevented by exiting the virtual

computer properly. Please see page 7 of this SMARTcard for
instructions on how to exit the virtual computer.
1. Verify your System Configuration
Windows 8 users can go to Search

and type in either 32 or 64. From
the options presented, choose See if
you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version
of Windows.

2. Download and Install VMware for BlockWorks in the Cloud

Youre installing a program to your computer that will allow you access to BlockWorks in the Cloud, so the
next several screens will be agreeing to the terms and conditions and clicking Next or Install when
required. Unless otherwise noted, its not necessary to change any of the settings that appear.

Congratulations! Youve verified your system
configuration, downloaded and installed VMware, and
accessed BlockWorks in the Cloud. Below are the very
important instructions to follow when you are ready to
log off the virtual computer.

IMPORTANT!
Its important to log off the virtual computer properly to prevent
problems in the future. Once youve completed your case study
and exited BlockWorks, click on the Options menu, then choose
Disconnect and Log Off. At the Popup window choose OK to
complete the log off process.
