Agree with the No Homework on Fridays policy
The Real aim of the department of education memorandum dated September 16, 2011 or
simply No assignments of Fridays policy is for the students to have more time with their
families on weekends. It would allow the students to enjoy their weekends by playing with
their friends and have bonding moments with their parents and other members of the
family.
Disagree with the No Homework on Fridays policy
If there will be assignments on Fridays, then it would benefit the not be behind from other
students during regular school days. Plus if the assignment is about a lesson that is already
discussed, it would prove that a student understands what the teacher taught to him.
Therefore it is not only the students benefit, but also, the benefit of the teacher.

The Scene:
Students from Polytechnic University of the Philippines

Laboratory High School were doing their homework together during
weekend. Then the Host/Moderator asked the Students/Panellists what was
their impression about the No homework on Fridays policy. All of the
impressions were summarized below:
NOT ALL THE TIMES YOU NEED TO BURDEN YOURSELF WITH BOOKS
ONLY! INSTEAD BE MORE OFTEN CLOSE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND
FRIENDS BECAUSE NOT ALL THE TIME THEYRE WITH US.
Agree with the No Homework on

Friday policy
Some parents do not help their
children with their children with
their homework, which makes
the students hate homework on
Friday for they do it alone.
It is a benefit for students to
relax during weekends.
Homework on Friday invades the
only family time that is
weekends.
Projects or Assignments that
need materials (other than
recycled materials) give parents
problems in money.
Disagree with the No Homework

on Friday policy
During weekends they study
together and that makes more
time to bond with classmates.
Doing assignments will help
students study their lessons
better.
Many students do not
understand their lessons well;
And much worse many forgot
their lessons in school when
weekends come.
It helps enhance their skills
Generally:
We are not against Assignments. We only wanted to have the

full Family time we need. To relax! It is not only our own benefit, but it is also
the benefit of our teachers even our families and friends.

Edniel:
Welcome everyone! Again this is me your host, Edniel giving you the
latest update here on the lazy Show. We heard different ideas from our special
guests last time. On the continuation of our segment for the No Homework on
Friday Policy, lets discuss those ideas with our new guestsSTUDENTS FROM
PUPLHS
Whats up guys! Looks like were having fun?!
Kharess: Were studying together.

Edniel: Thats good. Studying in group can help us understand better.
Rhenz: Yap! And it is also a form of bonding for us right?
Edniel:
Is that meansthat you are in favour of doing homework on weekend

because youre enjoying this?
Winn:
I dont think so, today is Saturday which is a weekday and I like doing
assignments with my friends.
Michelle:
Yes, and besides, my parents cant help me with my assignments, so

I do it alone.
Lester v:
But why? Is it that you can copy others answers? Doing assignments
can also help us study our lessons better. If we continue copying answers, you
will not understand your lessons.
Rhenz:
I like doing assignments in groups because you can get and learn from
other peoples ideas. Im not like your father!
Lester v: Hey! My father is not included here!

Winn:
Our point is, weekends should be given on us! I mean the whole
weekend! No Assignments or tasks in schools! Thats only 2 days; were too
tired in 5 school days. There are so many things to do at home also.
Kharess:
Many students do not understand wee, and many forgot the lessons
when weekends come.
Michelle:
Why do you prefer to have assignments during weekends? It is a

benefit for us to relax at those days right? Maybe, you are a Slow-Learner
huh?!
Kharess: Im not a slow learner! I just want to enhance my skills.

Rhenz: Then you study even the teacher does not give you task!
Lester v:
But most students especially children prefer to play rather than to
study.
Rhenz, Michelle, Winn: Thats not our problem!

Rhenz:
If you really want to finish school, you can find ways! But not invading
the only family time. Add also projects to do every weekends, Hello?! That also
give parents problems in money!
Winn: We are not against assignments. We only wanted to have the Full Family
Time we need. To relax! Even you will benefit! Dont be burden to those books
only! We are PUPians! We are Smart!
Edniel:
Excuse me (leave)You heard that. I think we should give students

free time. Theres a lot more to do than studying. Thats five days! I guess I
need to go now. This is the Lazy Show, well see you next time.
